Hello everyone,

I would really appreciate any insight into this. I filed the I-130 for my mom (who is in Brazil) and USCIS received it on June 15, 2015. I'm freaking out because I called USCIS twice before trying to get a timeframe and they told me 5 months for the whole process. I misunderstood as it as being 5 months for the entire process and purchased tickets to travel to Europe with my husband on the second week of May 2016, since I figured she'd be here by then to babysit our daughter. Now that I realize it will take almost a year I am anxious to figure out if she'll be here in time. Please help! I

Hard to say. Hopefully our I-130 gets approved quickly and if you follow the guides on her for dealing with the NVC that can go in a decent time. Hard to say though. It would be 8 months, 9 months, 10 months, or even longer.

Hopefully you get a quick I-130 approval.

I'd arrange for alternate plans if I were you as timing related matters seem very ambiguous regarding immigration processes. You would never know if RFE or anything gets lost as 5 mos sound very optimistic for any process. Still have plenty of time.
