Has anybody else had an issue getting an interview at a local consulate? My Partner is trying to get an interview at the Consulate in Ankara, Turkey but there are simply no appointments available. Instead, we are told that new appointments will be released "within the coming weeks" and to just keep checking the website. Is there a better way to do this or am I just stuck pushing refresh on a website for the next several weeks? What have your experiences been? Thanks for your answers in advance.

I was in same situation with embassy in Armenia. I kept refreshing until appoitment showed up. I don't think there is anything you can do. Ankara is a very busy embassy. Just keep trying. Good Luck!

That's what I was afraid of. I'll keep trying.

Has anybody used the phone system? I called in and it didn't seem like a good option.

Same situation in Colombia. I have been obsessively checking every hour of the day since September 2. Ours says "check back in a few days". My definition of "a few" is 3. But so far, nothing. It's so frustrating, but all I guess we can do is sit and wait. :/

Good luck and I hope it opens up soon for you both!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

How did you know what day to do this? Both my fiance in Turkey and I have been trying to get an appointment in still haven't had any luck.

Woooow, our case hirstory is exactly the same. I applied on 02/10, got NOA 2 on 07/29 and my case was received at the embassy in Ankara on 08/24. I am trying several time every day since then. However, there is nothing available yet. I also contacted the phone service line several times as well, but I get the same answer:

"There is nothing available at this time. Please try again later".

Please stay in touch. Hopefully we can both get our interviews scheduled very soon...

My fiancee and I have been experiencing the same thing, "no available dates". Our case was received on 8/12 in Ankara and there was dates available at the time; however, we didn't want to put the cart ahead of the horse and sign up for an interview date before receiving packet 3. Turns out, the consulate had sent packet 3 email for our case on the 12th, but to an email address that neither of us recognize. We just missed out on available dates because of this.

We have been checking regularly since the August 20th. All I have seen is one cancellation, which we noticed on August 21st for an interview date of August 24th. Not enough notice for most people.

If any of you have luck getting an interview date, please let us know. We will do the same for you. =) Hopefully, it will be soon.

That's the thing, I didn't know what day to do it, but I did know to set my alarm to times when most of the world was either sleeping or at work. For me, 3AM east coast time was a god time to seek interview dates. My strategy was based on the thought that if a day happened to open up, I would be the early bird that catches the worm, so to speak, in that I was awake at the time the interview date was cancelled by someone else and I was ready to take the date before anyone else.

How did you find out that the embassy actually sent you the email to a wrong email address? the embassy has received our case 12 days ago and we have not received any email... so I don't know if they have sent us our 3 pack email to a wrong email address or we should still wait for the email...

It's especially frustrating after the time it took to get through the TSC. This process has been a real challenge.

They emailed my partner back and told us some appointments would open up in the coming weeks. I asked for more specifics but they didn't respond. Hopefully they open some up soon.

From the timelines on here, we noticed that most people get the packet 3 (K1 instructions) email within a day or two of the consulate receiving the case from NVC. After a few days, no email from the consulate. We sent them a mail (http://turkey.usembassy.gov/iv-form2.html)%C2'> asking them to clarify what the next step in the process is. In their response, they said they already mailed the instructions to ####@####.com for our case, and directed us to a copy of the K1 instructions on the website. We didn't recognize the email they listed in their response at all. But the case number and everything else was correct.

FYI, when you submit a mail to them, they state that they will reply within 5 business days. They took the full 5 business days to respond.
