Just got my NOA2 approved, yay:)

They say the K1 process can take up to a year but so far it has been super fast, where is the hold up? what takes the longest?

Will it take longer to get the interview?

SUPER excited but a bit stressed haha.

It all depends. Usually getting from NOA1 to NOA2 is the longest, and usually this part determines your overall wait. From NOA2 to visa-in-hand is 2 to 3 months, almost universally (except for those who get put into AP but those are usually red flag cases, or high fraud countries). The issue with NOA1 to NOA2 is that the service centers sometimes have long lines (lots of people applied all at the same time, perhaps, or staff reassigned from K1 applications to other ones to help with backlogs elsewhere), and some have no line at all, and who has what line and how long it is and if they're speeding up or slowing down changes frequently.

So, sometimes, some people get their NOA2 out of a fast service center that had no "line" when they applied in 4 days. So their whole process won't be any longer than 3.5 months. Others don't get NOA2 from their slow service center with 6+ months worth of a line ahead of them for 7.5 months (as it was this winter at TSC), bringing their total time up to 10.5 months. Luck of the draw, more or less. Others still, have problems with their application and either need more processing or need to send in more evidence, bringing time to NOA2 up to 9 months. This is why it "can take up to a year". Because it can.
