what do i do before leaving the UK????

hi to all!

will be leaving the UK next month.

i want to make sure i sort out everything i need to before i leave the country.

can you guys tell what stuff you had to do apart from visa stuff before you went to the states?

please let me know.

April 14 - Wedding Day

April 18 - Honeymoon: 10 days at St. Thomas & St. John, US Virgin Islands

May 16 - AOS, EAD & AP package sent to Chicago

May 18 - Chicago received package

May 25 - AOS, EAD & AP touched

May 26 - NOA received, letter dated May 22 2007

June 04 - Biometrics appointment letter received, letter dated May 24 2007

June 16 - Biometrics appointment

June 19 - AOS & EAD touched

June 21 - AOS Transferred to California

June 28 - AOS pending

July 24 - AOS is still pending

July 25 - From: CRIS, Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident

July 23 2009 - Green Card expires

September 28 2019 - New Green Card expires

Nov 2 2011 - Got Text & Email that USCIS received application

Nov 5 2011 - Received NOA. Notice Date: 11.1.11

Mar 21 2012 - Interview - PASSED

Mar 26 2012 - Oath Ceremony & applied for my passport

Prepare important documents for your AOS and blah blah. Don't forget and don't leave anything behind. And of coz to pray :)

make arrangements with you bank (if you are keeping an account there) to do online banking it makes it much easier to pay bills, transfer money etc.

Tell the Inland Revenue and DSS you are leaving. If you have paid tax in the current tax year and have a P45 download the form and claim back any overpayment of tax. The DSS because they need to know re any pension you may be entitled to in years to come.

Bring as much tea, bisquits, chocolate, ect as you can :P Cause you wont believe what you will have to pay for it here.

This is true, I filled out the form saying I was leaving the country and have some taxes coming back but with pensions and all, its definitely something to be worked out.

Make sure you pig out on english food now, you'll miss it later.

And the people you aren't TOO bothered about seeing befre you go, make sure you do see them, you'll regret it later
