Hello,

I'm a bit stuck on where to find my vaccination records. I've talked to my doctor, and my mom and neither seem to have anything related to Tdap, or MMR which is asked about for K-1 medical exam. I'm doing my medical with Dr. Cheema in Vancouver, and my interview as well.

As a canadian who was born and raised here, would I have already had these shots, and how did you VJ uses find records of them?

Thanks

~TP

P.S.

Can I request to not have my shots until I'm in the US, and is it worth it to do this?

27-49 YEARS (requirements)
Tdap (Adacel or Boosterix) - ensure you get Tdap not just Td
MMR Measles, Mumps, Rubella. ("MR" and "MM" are not enough. You need MMR)
Varicella - If you had "Chicken Pox" disease, no vaccine is needed
Influenza (only required during October - February, annually)

I went to my public health division website and they had a form to fill out. Then I just picked up the record from their office :)

I'm not sure where you are located but I had to get an updated tetanus and it was free for me in Saskatchewan. So I think it would be worth it to get them updated before your medical here (they will charge you for any vaccinations needed at the appointment). As well as I'm not sure how the costs work in the U.S. Sorry I'm not much help haha

You can go to family doctor and check blood test. It shows that what you have done before. After blood test, you can ask make immunization record for interview. My family doctor just printed out blood test result for my medical exam.

Thankyou for all the replies. I'm going to contact my local health unit today and go from there.

The blood test sounds a lot better than re-doing shots. I didn't know shots expired. :(

They sure do, hence the term "booster shot"

My doctor couldn't find any record of my MMR getting done so he just gave me a booster a few days before my medical. I'm sure I had it done at some point but just didn't have it in the system.

Okay so as an update:

My doctor doesn't give out vaccinations, so I'm going to get bloodwork done to establish that i've done MMR before (cannot locate history of vaccination).

I did track down my Tdap results through my local health unit. Tdap expires after 10 years so I will go to a local immuniazion clinic to get that done.
