Hello everyone, i was a semi regular user of this site when i was in England awaiting my K-1, getting help and trying to give it, now i am back in need of some casual info....

Today i shall mail off my AOS/EAD package and i was wondering about how it works. I read that the AOS can take a good 5 months, yet i also heard that the EAD is not supposed to take more than 90 days from the moment it is recieved. Is this pretty accurate? Any info would help clear up my head and give basic peace of mind....

I hope everyone is doing well,

Scott.

AOS/EAD

March 2nd- Sent package

March 7th- Receipt date/ checks cashed

March 15th- Notice of Biometrics for March 28th

March 16th- RFE for AOS posted online, still waiting for the actual letter in mail.

March 23rd- RFE letters arrived.

March 28th- Had Biometrics, all went smoothly.

April 9th- Informed that case processing has been resumed.

April 24th- AOS Transferred to CSC.

May 18th- Got the case pending at CSC email.

May 24th- EAD APPROVED.

-Scott.

EAD time is pretty accurate. AOS is extremely variable unfortunately. This site has statistics on how long variation immigration forms take to process so you can see the averages at least. Click on "Immigration Timelines" above.

AOS is more variable because it's down to your local area office...or of course if your case is transferred to California which is a happy dance thing normally. Then for the unlucky few, there's name check hell!

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

EAD can take more than 90 days if an RFE is received. The way I understand it, an RFE for initial evidence will stop your EAD timeclock and it will restart when you return the info (or is it the 90 days starts over? I think that's it actually). If your RFE is for additional evidence then your EAD processing continues as normal. In the end though, it seems most people really do get the EAD in 90 days regardless of RFE. We had an RFE and as you can see our EAD didn't even take 90 days.
