Hello,

I am confused to say the least, the Visa Status Check states that the paperwork is at the US Embassy in Colombia, as of Sept 4, 2015.

Do I have to wait for the email to make the interview appt? or do I go ahead and make it now?

Second question: AOS !

Where do I send it to? or I just fill the form and send it to my fiancee?

I thanks everybody in advanced!

Manuel

Hi,

Our application arrived to the Embassy on the same day, September 4. We completed DS160 on September 2. Because all you need is the NVC case number. Currently, the embassy in Bogota is not scheduling interviews. I have been trying since the 2nd. They should be opening the window of appointments soon.

My fiance received his packet 3 and 4 today via email. But as of 5 minutes ago, there are still no appointments available. And the medical exam can't be scheduled until the interview has been scheduled. So I would say go ahead and complete DS160 so that way when the window of appointments open, you can get an interview scheduled!

Good luck!!

I'm in the exact same situation waiting for the embassy to contact me, I know they received my paperwork on Sep 11, I hope I hear something back soon... as for the packet 3 I have a question concerning the police records... where do you get those? are those that you download from the police website valid?

Have you completed the DS160? It took 6 days for us to receive packet 3. electronically, via email. They did not ask us for the email address to send it to. On September 14 they opened windows for interviews.

So my suggestion is if you haven't completed the DS160, do it now, all you need is the BGT case number from NVC and your USCIS case number.

Also the police record comes from the website.

If you would like you private message me I can send you a copy of the packet 3 so you can see what it looks like.

You are the sweetest!!! But that same day we received our packet in my inbox. Thank you anyways!! And now I have another question, the thing is my fiancé insisted on hiring an immigration attorney but the guy is not doing a good job so I'm starting to doubt what he says. The guy told me I need translations for all my documents for the interview... Is that true? If so can you tell me what service of official translators did you use? Thank you in advance.

Hi!!

No, nothing needs to be translated for the embassy interview, official documents. However, if you communicate in Spanish with your fiancé, like in text messages and emails, you need to translate them, but you can do it yourself. Also you need the LONG version of the birth certificate. My fiancé actually had to order one.

Now, you WILL need official translations of the birth certificate for the AOS after you get married. So do go ahead and get it translated. I cannot remember off the top of my head who my fiancé used, but I will try to find out.

I highly recommend rev.com for translations... that's what I used with our case and they are very good! Charge is $27 per page.

Hi,

I have our DS-160 pretty much ready to go but our case is still at NVC (We have been issued a case number already). As far as I can see the only requirement for DS-160 is the USCIS case number. Where are you seeing the request for the NVC case number on the DS-160 form?

The NVC case number becomes a requirement when it comes time to pay the fees and have the Medical done; that's my understanding but want to make sure not to miss anything.

Does that sound right to you?

For translations my fiancé used a service in Colombia and it was definitely cheaper than $27 per page. More like $10 a page.

You will just need it to sign in to the system to complete the DS-160. The USCIS is to be entered into the form!

Sorry for the confusion!
