Hello everyone,

Thank you in advance for any responses. My wife finally got her interview scheduling letter for the Tokyo embassy in Japan. We're ecstatic, but the problem is, they listed her police document as only a copy received and so we're supposed to take the original to the interview.

However, we sent them the original sealed police certificate, so we're not sure why they're listing it as a copy and or what we should do. We're worried we can't get another original from the police station as it's generally a once a year thing here. Should we try to contact the NVC and ask about it, or should we wait to explain at the interview?

Thanks again for any responses!

You should really call and ask right NOW. Don't wait until the interview. If the NVC rep tells you ambiguous answers or bullshit, try to reach a supervisor and tell them that they should hv the original copy.

there's a chance they may insist on having the copy one for whatever reasons. Ask for instructions on what to do (keep telling them you don't hv the original copy)

at the same time, call the police department of Tokyo and see if they can reissue an original copy for you or if it's possible to obtain one more before her interview date.

Just don't wait until the interview day.

good luck to you and your wife :)
