Good evening everyone, im thinking about calling the court so that I can get a wedding notification stating when and where our wedding will take place to add to our evidence for my FIANCE during his interview. Does anyone know how I can go about this or who has done this before to give me a clue, and what are the necessary stuffs I might need to give them? tnx everyone

If what you want is a court appointment letter for a set date for a court wedding then yes, he can submit that.

If it doesn't cost a lot of money that you would be out of in case the visa is delayed I see no problem with it.

I have not read about it being done here but I would think it would be good evidence for fussy Lagos.

People turn in hall rentals etc. so why not a court wedding appointment letter if they can issue one.

I don't think there is anything a court can give you to affirm that a wedding will talk place over here. Most of the clerk of courts require both parties to appear before they issue a marriage liscense. So you probably do not have a marriage liscense yet or at least you shouldn't. The only thing that i can think of probably for your fiances interview which would be close to what you are describing is a newspaper clipping that many families over here do to announce an impending marriage or to announce an engagement. But since that is so easy to obtain, I don't think it will be much value added to your interview evidences. Hope that helps

The case number has been assigned today, but no wedding preparations yet like buying wedding gown, suit or rings. And no decisions yet about any legal proof to show embassy about when and where the wedding will take place in the U.S. Pls house, how can I go about this??? Tnx

Never knew that, My best friend sent an email stating that she is making all the wedding arrangements for sometime in October as that is when we thought he would be here. I don't have anything that I have paid for just in case but showing the intentions by making preliminary arrangements. Do you feel that was OK? Is it not ok to presume your visa will be granted? Being genuine with this inquiry. I presumed the visa would be granted from the time I started the petition. Just need to understand why that presumption would be taken negatively. thanks in advance TBone

lala64, you can overcome the doubt by telling the consul, "Not to presume granting of the visa, but we have made these preliminary arrangements, and you need to know about them as additional proof of our bona fide relationship."

In some sub-saharan countries evidence of future wedding plans are wanted and sometimes requested.

This could be for obvious reasons as well as the consulate wanting to be convinced that a couple doesn't already consider themselves

as traditionally married so future wedding plans in those countries are welcomed and not assumed presumptuous.

Just make sure to strike the right balance because often AP will mess with wedding plans and you lose all your money on deposits and

it becomes a big drama for all guests and family involved and we deal with Bridezillas here.

Lightly plan, spend very thrifty. Request possible refunds from vendors mentioned in contracts due to the many hurdles in this journey if plans fall through.

We submitted chats talking about the wedding and submitted photos and a receipt of our wedding garments.

It all depends what kind of wedding you are planning, be creative with evidence to submit.

If you attend a church then the hall rental should be flexible and cheap (if any charge at all) and the ministers are usually very flexible.

Look for local vendors or friends for decorating / cake / flowers etc to work with you. It can be done and proven without losing an arm and a leg.
