A woman told police of her disbelief when she discovered that her "boyfriend" of two years was a female friend, a jury has heard.
The complainant said she thought she was having sex with a man called Kye Fortune, who was recovering from a brain tumour and did not want her to see his scars.
But she claims she eventually discovered it was in fact her 25-year-old friend Gayle Newland, who had persuaded her to wear a blindfold throughout their sexual encounters in which a prosthetic was used.

Newland, of Willaston, Cheshire, is on trial at Chester Crown Court where she denies five counts of sexual assault between February and June 2013.
The court heard the alleged victim received a Facebook friend request in 2011 from a Kye Fortune who purported to be a half-Filipino, half-Latino young man.
They communicated online and "Kye" later told her he had been involved in a car accident before medics found he had a brain tumour. He was having treatment in hospital and was not well enough to see her, the complainant told police in a video interview.
But the pair spoke frequently on the phone where the complainant described Kye's voice as "high-pitched".

The complainant told the interviewing officer: "He was saying how much I had helped him get through his illness. (He said) it was a sign, we should get married, we should have kids, we were going to do all sorts of things."
During this time, the complainant said she met Newland - who became a "really good friend" and said she knew Kye. Eventually, the complainant and Kye decided to finally meet in person at a Chester hotel, the jury heard.
She told police the only stipulation that Kye made was that she wear a blindfold because he was "anxious about the way he looked" and "could not walk properly" due to nerve and muscle damage.

The woman said "Kye" was in the bathroom when she entered the hotel room and the bed was covered with rose petals and Hello Kitty bears.
The complainant said she put on the blindfold of a sleeping mask and scarf and that a "shaking Kye" came in and said he had signed himself out of a private hospital in Manchester.
The pair then had sex, she alleges, in which Newland is alleged to have used a prosthetic ####### before "Kye" said he had to return to hospital.

Further hotel visits followed where she said sex took place again before "Kye" visited her flat and finally uncovered the truth, the court heard.
Describing what she said was their last sexual encounter before she went to the police, she said: "When I was having sex I grabbed for the back of his head and my hand got caught on something. It did not feel right.
"I was sat on the bed, he was standing up. Something in my mind said 'pull it (the blindfold) off, pull it off'. I just pulled it off. Gayle was just standing there... I just couldn't believe it, I couldn't believe it. Straight away she held her hand down over her face and said 'it's not what you think'."
The trial continues.

I know that women tend to know what they want to it stands to reason that has some validity to it. So far, I haven't heard any complaints so I'll take that as a compliment.

This morning, Newland continued to be cross-examined.
Newland described her alleged victim as being “very sexual” and denied she had ever told her to wear a blindfold when they met.
Describing their relationship, she said: “She was always quite sexual. I wasn’t expecting us to do anything at all.
“She wanted me to touch her. She was the one who told me to go online and buy the strap-on.”
Sobbing in the dock, Newland told her defence, Nigel Power, that she had been “in love”.

Newland described her argument with the woman - who claims she believed she was in a relationship with a man called Kye Fortune - after she allegedly removed a blindfold and saw her standing over her wearing a strap-on.

Breaking down in tears, she said: “She pushed me and I fell down the stairs. Then she just climbed over me and left.”
Newland then described how she chased after her alleged victim, as was shown in CCTV footage seen by the court yesterday.
She said: “She said to me ‘you were stood there with a strap-on on, what have you got to say for yourself Gayle?
“It was over. She didn’t want anything to do with me – and she said I was ‘sick’.
“She said ‘Why have you pretended to be Kye?’. I thought I’d never see her again.”
Newland described how after this argument, she drove to a road bridge and contemplated suicide.
She said: “I just wanted to jump off and be hit by the traffic. The thought of not having her in my life was unbearable. I just wanted to kill myself.”
The court heard how she then drove to another bridge over a river and threw herself into the water before being rescued by police and hospitalised.
Chester Crown Court also heard how Newland claimed that each time she had met her alleged victim she had parked her car - which the woman had been in before - outside the location.
Newland was questioned over why she had sent texts apologising to her alleged victim after this argument.
She said: “I felt like I had done something wrong. A part of me believed her when she said she didn’t know.
“It sounds so stupid but if she had said I’d done anything I would have apologised. I wanted her in my life.”
“I knew how hard she found her sexuality. I felt like if she wasn’t in my life that was it, I’d be done.
“She was my only chance of being happy and my only chance of being me.”
Matthew Corbett-Jones, prosecuting, questioned Newland about the allegations that her victim was blindfolded - something she completely denied.
Newland said: “I think she went along with the fantasy. But no, there was nothing covering up her eyes.
“I’m absolutely certain she could see. I don’t see any way she would have worn a blindfold for this entire situation.”
