FYI - SLEC medical exam

So I accompanied my fiancee to the SLEC this morning on Wed. Although I heard some, if not most, people suggested that we should go there as early as 4am since there will be so many people trying to get their med. exam done; we went around 6:15am because we also heard that there are much less people on Wed/Thu/Fri. As we expected there was NO line when we arrived and it took less than 15 seconds or so to go through the security guard as we had the online - appointment form, pictures with names written in the back, screenshot of MNL case number, all ready.

For those who wants to go at 4am, please don't waste your time and get some more sleep. my two cents...

Thanks! Please let us know how the medical differs now from the pinned topic of awhile ago (if at all).

Oh, and did they let you join, or there was a waiting room, or were you cooling your heels watching the 'scenery' outside?

Yes! I tell everyone I can that. Such a waste of time to wait hours outside. Same for the embassy....no need! Just show up a few minutes early, you dont need to show up hours before.

there is no waiting room. I came back to the hotel and watched CNN.

After I've had a major headache being stuck in the traffic for 2 hours to move for 3.5 miles or so, I swear to myself. I ain't going anywhere day and night. I wasn't even sure if we could come back to the hotel in time for the medical exam. Even after 11pm road in Makati was jammed and none of the cars was moving. Seriously, it was after 11pm. Taxis weren't even taking customers because they simply wanted to park their car on the side road and sleep. Traffic problem here is just beyond my imagination. The first time I came to Manila, I stayed only in Pasay area so I had no idea what the traffic is like in Manila. I learned my lesson last night.

Just stay near St Lukes or near the embassy. Traffic to and out of makati is just crazy in the morning and early evening. 2 hrs is common to be in traffic. When it rains, it will get worst.

Yes I'm staying in Ermita area, only 1 block away from SLEC. We went to Makati only to have nice dinner. Wanted to get her some nice food before the long tiring two days of med. exam.

For those who is considering to come to SLEC on WED/THU/FRI, my fiancee was done before 3pm on the first day and she was even allowed to have a lunch break from 12 to 2pm. She was told to come back tomorrow, Thu, at 2pm for the 2nd day check up.

Totally agree. Been telling people for years to not show up way early... waste of time.

Same with interview day, no reason to show up way early.

There are equally good restos in Mall of Asia, that is just along Roxas Blvd and easier to go by taxi. If you want to have a nice dinner and few drinks after go to Greenbelt 3.

Of course. But who wants to wait in line for hours. Just go as they open and get some rest....why wait outside for no reason. Most people travel for the medical what's the point to wait so early and get done so early? To go back and wait in the hotel? Just rest and relax...show up when they open.

what was I wrong about? I didn't say there was no line at 4am. What I said was that there was no line when we arrived at 6:15am. Point being you had to wait 2+ hours and we didn't have to. Instead we had good amount of sleep, we were still able to complete our check-up and finished what we had intended to do which was our goal for the day.

when you go there even at 5am you dont see any long lines anymore because people are already inside and the slec starts very early. actually if there were no lots senior cetizens today, i would be done before 9am. They were always priority in every lines which is understandable and they are deserving too.
