We just got an RFE saying that Brian's medical expired. He's got an appointment tomorrow to get the new sealed envelope to send back and I've been reading up on how they want this sent back. My question is, the letter came from an office in New York City, 26 Federal Plaza, Suite 8-800. That just seems odd to me because we live in New Jersey. I assumed our local Field Office, if we'd progressed this far, would be in Newark, NJ.

Also, any advice on how we can quickly get this back to them? Should I make an appointment and bring it in? Overnight mail it?
I want to send it return receipt requested and have them sign for it. I need to know they got it on time.

A stand-alone thread that duplicated the above query has been removed. Please post in only one thread if issues are of similar theme.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Did anyone answer your question about the appropriate mail-type? Im wondering if we can overnight our RFE as well (we have the exact same request). And literally we have to send it to the same place. Did you overnight the package?

It seems some members are more interested in forum protocol than helping answer the actual questions asked.

To moderators and members who are looking for duplicate threads, can you please include a link when you say there is a duplicate thread? This way we can add conversation to the main one that's been started. Also, when I google search a certain question, it's helpful to have answers in multiple threads. The SEO works that way since we all type queries into Google differently, and it will make the content on this forum more accessible and understandable by those seeking answers. From a query perspective, it's OK to have multiple threads with similar topics.

I found information on NOLO.com which was fairly helpful:

http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/how-handle-request-evidence-rfe-from-uscis.html

We mailed it Priority as it suggested, and certified so we can track it. And also Return Receipt Requested.

I believe in multiple forms of proof for this kind of thing, but we had time so we didn't need to overnight it.

Also noticed that the A# listed in the top right corner is not Brian's Alien number?

Should I mention that in my response or just assume it's some other number and not bother?

You should definitely let them know that the A# is different. Perhaps there is a mix-up. You can even call the USCIS and ask for your call to be escalated to a tier 2 immigration officer to ask about the discrepancy.

If someone had answered in the duplicate thread the moderators would have merged the answers over here. It is better for them to send the topics to the correct forum since people who are "experts" in different areas only keep themselves to certain forums and this way the thread starter will get the best help. If you have more suggestions for the forum you can go to the forum suggestion section where this has been brought up.

So i did some research online and figured out that the alien number on all the paperwork is the correct one. Apparently, the alien number on his Visa isn't the alien number. At that point, being K-1 Fiance, he wasn't an immigrant yet and wouldn't have had an alien number. But I did mention in the cover letter that I had mistakaenly thought that was it on some of the earlier paperwork as an FYI.

A K-1 visa holder would have an A#. The A# can be found above the beneficiary's name on the I-129F approval notice (NOA2).
