I hope somebody can help me.... My husband & I got married in HK last Aug. 2006 but I'm frm Philippines. After a few months he filed for the K3 petition. The petition got approved 12 Feb. 2007, so I'm just waiting for packet 3. I wanna know is if I'm gonna have the medical in Hong Kong coz I know I'm gonna have the interview there since we got married in HK. And how long does it take to get the result of the medical? How long should I stay in HK to complete all the process, coz I need to know all of this to make proper arrangements and I can book a flight ahead of time.

Thanks to anyone who will take time in reading this

where you were married is not relevant to the K3 process. If you are a resident of the Philipines and are living in the Philipines, that is where you will have your interview and medical. Of course, I might have missed something...

It is relevant!

Application for the nonimmigrant visa for spouse (K-3) who married a U.S. citizen must be filed and the visa must be issued in the country where the marriage took place. ( http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...types_1315.html ) So, in this case the medical and inreview should talke place in HK, as selfridges18 said.

Ok, carry on. Makes sense not to get married anywhere other than your country of origin or the US if you are planning on emmigrating then.

thanks for all those who replied... :D I emailed the US Consulate in HK and I got a reply from them today. They said they got the file frm NVC yesterday 27 Feb. 2007 and they will send me the packet of instructions and application forms as soon as possible after they complete internal processing. And since we processed the visa in HK then thats were I'm gonna have my medical. So I'm just gonna be waiting...

I think in most cases it's a result of working in another country. Good paying jobs in the Philippines are hard to come by. Several of my wife's family members are working in other countries just for that reason.

Married on 11/21/06 in her hometown city Tumauini located in the Isabela province (Republic of the Philippines)
