my stepfather is my fiances sponsor, we sent in the affidavit of support this year for the i-129f, supporting documents were job letter and tax returns. I married my fiance, we are living together and my stepdad will still be his sponsor, he just retired like last month, now im filling the affidavit of support again for the i-485 adjustment of status application, i am a little confused on how to fill it out, do i just put retired where it says in what business he is employed and still put his tax information since the year is not over yet?? and also send whatever paper work my stepdad has received from his social security and disability stating how much he is starting to receive????

Another thing is the application asks for the vaccination supplement but everything he brought with him was taken at immigration when he entered the country. so we do not have any copies of his medical exam or vaccinations. we do not have anything to send in, this worries me A LOT!!!! what should we doooooo??????

Thank you all in advance for all the help.

Hi,

The I-864 only considers current income to meet the requirements. Since your stepfather is retired, you can not use his income from a job that he no longer has. You can only count his current sources of income. Will your stepdad make enough from SS and disability to cover his household?

Part 6 1c. is where you mark that you are retired. He lists his retirement income amount and provides benefits letters, 1099s and 12 months of bank statements to prove how much he receives each month.
