I am a Us Citizen, my fiancee now husband arrived under the fiancee visa. We got married here and he received his LPR in June 2014. It has been about a year and a half. We are supposed to file the 10 yrs LPR packet ny January. Last night we had a problem, he hit me and I have marks all over my face, police came and arrested him. I tild them I did not want to press charges but they told me they had to. What is the situation now with his LPR status. I do not want him deported, he needs professional help from psychologists and I do not want him deported. I want him to be here in the US. Will the domestic violence afftect his status?

Pretty much, you need to consult an experienced attorney.

Sis you should protect yourself and leave, no real man hits a woman

Don't try to hold on to this guy he will beat you again, with the marks

you mentioned the state will probably pick up the case even if you dropped

charges. He may very well be deportable with DV depending on charges

You should be protected not beaten. Kindly allow law enforcement to do their job and deport him. He might do more than this next time. Some decisions are very difficult to make, but they are necessary and beneficial in the long run. Hope you feel better now? (I mean the body ache) Good luck

One great thing about this site is that the black and white truth is told. We don't tell you what you want to hear but here we give and receive blunt truths to help us make informed decisions. You said he faced this at home with his parents, do you want your sons to see, learn and also do this?

An sorry if you think am judging. Good luck with whatever choice you make.

If you're worried about the immigration status of your abusive husband, you should contact an attorney that specializes in immigration law. If you're concerned about yourself (and you should be), contact a chiropractor because it sounds to me like your backbone needs to be stronger. Don't stay in an abusive relationship, there is NO WAY to fix it!! If you don't want to hear the truth, don't share the details of abuse. The majority of advice you will get (hopefully) will be to walk away and don't look back!! Love doesn't not harm!!

A man capable to batter his wife has zero love and respect for the spouse. You should seek some help for you too because excusing his abusive behavior clearly shows you have some issues such as self esteem and self respect .

When people justify an abuser saying " I love him", I have to say you should love you more", when you learn to develop respect for yourself never more you you will excuse any abuser .

Calicolom if you were not sarcastic then I urge that you inform yourself about domestic violence ,because your answer is so wrong in all levels.

He will not be deported right now,but eventually he may be deported,USCIS does not accept abuse, because abuse is a despicable act of moral turpitude.

People needs to remember that in an abuse situtation in most states it is not left up to the person receiving the abuse to decide if they wants to press charges or not. it is now in the states hand, once the phone call is made for help, that decision was taken out of her control.
