Enough, abeg. Stop branding my (our) country so publicly with such a negative brand. Despite having world-leading statistics, how often do you speak of America as a "high-homicide country", or South Africa as a "high-rape country"?

I haven't branded it, the consulate has unfortunately. Knowing is half the battle apparently in this visa process. From my limited perspective, the more I know about the process and the objectives, preconceptions, etc about the approver (ie the consulate) the better case that I can build for my fiance. It really isn't about branding or throwing shade on a country or anything like that, it is learning how to play to win. The best way to answer a question, is to have it not asked because you package is air tight. People just want to help you to have it air tight that is all. Whether we personally agree with the red flags or not, it is the perception of the consulate (based in his/her previous statistics) that you have to overcome. abi?

When asking questions about getting a visa into the US from a high fraud country, noting it is a high fraud country in an effort to help you navigate the issue is just germaine to the discussion. It is not defamatory to state germaine issues to be aware of, or of various well-known fraudulent schemes that take place to help avoid the pitfalls. There is only one person attacking people, and it isn't any of the ones who tried to answer the questions.

Why would I not speak the truth about Nigeria ? I tend to refer to the US as a moral cesspool which is also the truth. Facts are facts and protesting the use of them doesn't change them. It is the behavior of Nigerians at the consulate that has it labelled a high fraud country. Everyone interviewing at Lagos pays for the fake papers, fake families, and fake love interests of the ones that have gone before. Immigration wouldn't think twice about prior visitors applications or student visas from the OK or France.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

We are helping , in high fraud countries things that are not a concern in every other country raises a difference response. A failed request for a student visa from the UK is just a tick mark on the paperwork In Nigeria it can lead to questions about being desperate to get to America and doubt of the validity of the relationship. I know of a group of Nigerians that marry , petition, divorce and repeat along with their newly resident spouse. They are trying to get their village residence one house at a time. I have never heard of this kind of behavior in low fraud countries. So the standard answer of part visa applications not being an issue is tainted in Nigeria.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
