Hello world!

I have a few questions about my particular situation regarding the Affidavit of Support for my China-residing, Swedish husband.

Our petition has been approved, and we are preparing his documents for the interview. I filed DCF in May, but have already moved back to the US for grad school.

1. Am I employed? I will begin grad school soon, and received full funding and an award of 15k/year. So, I don't have a "job", but I do have a guaranteed income for the next three years.

2. So I don't meet the income requirement, I can use assets, right? Unfortunately, I just moved back, so my assets are inconsistent. I just deposited 10k in my US savings account, but previously the balance was floating at less than 1k (because I have been living abroad, but will this seem strange to the consular officer?)

3. I also have portfolio of 60k which I am the beneficiary, but not the account "custodian". Can I use these assets?

4. Since I am using assets, how many bank statements do I have to include?

5. OR, should I try and beg someone to be a joint sponsor?

I believe that to use your savings/checkings as asset to meet the income requirement you will need 12 months of bank statements. You best chance is probably to get a joint sponsor. Also you will need your IRS tax transcript for 2014 and/or proof of current income, which should consist of paystubs for the last 6 months and a letter from your employer stating your employment and salary.
