Hi everyone!

My interview with the Montreal Consulate is on September 14th and I'm really excited!!

I was hoping you lovely folks could help look over my completed package and make sure I'm not missing anything.

Here's what I have so far:

¾ The appointment letter showing the date and time of your interview

2 Copies printed and ready

¾ Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date you plan to enter the United States

Passport ready; expires October 25, 2017

¾ Birth certificate

Certificate of Live Birth (Original and copy) ready

¾ Adoptions decree (s)

N/A

¾ Marriage certificate (s)

N/A

¾ Death and/or divorce certificate(s)

N/A

¾ Police certificates from each country in which the applicant has resided for one year or longer. The certificate(s) must be issued within one year of the date of the visa appointment. NOTE: An applicant must present a police certificate from his/her country of current residence and country of nationality, if residence in such country exceeds 6 months

Police Certificate (Original and copy) Printed and Ready - This certificate I applied for in 2014 at the Toronto Police HQ and they specifically asked if it was for a K1 Visa which I confirmed. The document states that they do not have any person by my name on record within the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC).

¾ Court records

N/A

¾ Military records

N/A

¾ Evidence of domicile in the United States

We have the following documents ready:

- A letter from Sponsor's landlord (her father) stating that she lives at this address, he is renting to her, he has no standing notices of her intent to move out and is expecting her next rent check in October 2015

¾ Job offer letter (for employment-based visas)

N/A

¾ Affidavit of support (I-134) (for fiancé, employment and DV visas)

2x I-134 (Original and Copies) of both the Sponsor and our co-sponsor (her father)

¾ Evidence of support (I-864, Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year)

N/A according to http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/563498-i-864-requirement-in-packet-4/

¾ Medical examination

Full Sealed Examination Results Ready + a full copy of my entire health record

¾ Two photographs (in color)

2x Passport-Style photographs ready to go (Taken August 2015)

¾ For K visa applicants, a letter of intent to marry signed by the petitioner within 30 days of interview date

Letter of Intent to Marry (original and copy) ready to go

I also, though it isn't on this list (?), have created a binder with laminated pages showing evidence of the past two years of our relationship in a timeline, with the following items:

- Plane tickets (actual ticket stubs)

- Luggage tags

- All receipts generated from all trips in the last two years

- As many pictures as possible generated from the last two years of us

- Snippets of conversations from every month showing certain topics and discussions / normal random stuff, etc

What do you think, VJ? Is this package ready to go? Is there anything you would add or remove?

Thank you all so much, I'm so excited for the interview!! :D

Sounds pretty good, maybe a copy of the payment for the embassy if you made it online.

Question, for your photos, are you doing anything special with that?

Are you writing the date and a description on the back?

I was planning on doing that, but I didn't know if I should just have it as a stack of photos

or do something else.

But sounds like you are on the right track !!!

Normally when I ask for passport photos they'll put a stamp on the back with the date they were taken; that was done this time too. I don't think a description on the back is necessary but maybe others can chime in about that. :)

I think you need to mention the details behind the pictures of you and your future life mate, "As many pictures as possible generated from the last two years of us". Write the date and place and time on the back of the picture if it is not already done

You said that you applied for your police certificate in 2014?

My only concern is when in 2014? If the date on the certificate is less than a year prior to the day of the interview, then you are good to go.

Looks good! Make sure you have a copy of your DS-160 barcode, they ask to see it before letting you into the consulate. That's all I can think of! I did date and write a description on my photos but they didn't ask to see them, of course lol. I think everything looks good! They also didn't ask to see my fiancé or co-sponsor's passport/birth certificate but definitely have it just in case! I was over prepared but I think that's okay hehe.

Thanks for the heads up - I just double checked when I actually got the certificate and it was January 2015. So we're good to go there! :D

You should add printed copies of your social media interactions with your fiance, and interactions of your fiance relatives talking. Phone records showing you and your fiancé number calling each other with dates. All this helps I did k1 too and i had all this just giving you that info because I did not see it on your post

Yes, have your DS-160 confirmation page. I was not asked for mine (my appointment letter sufficed) however I was surprised by this because every other review stated that their DS-160 page was needed, so I would bring it!

You need a photocopy of the bio page of your passport.

As for the I-134, you still need the supporting documents. Beware in Packet 4 there are 2 checklist pages. You need to look at the second checklist - the one specifically for K-1 visa interviews! So while it is correct that you do not need to fill out the I-184, the I-134 affidavit along with supporting evidence is still required. The sponsor and co-sponsor still need to provide the most complete tax return, or even better, the transcript (so the one for year 2014), along with their affidavits. They should also include paystubs, w-2's (although I see you have this already), a letter of employment stating salary, type of position, date started etc. They could also provide bank statements and evidence of deposits/withdrawals as they see fit to support the affidavit. The tax information, at minimum, is critical and is required! You need this!! Make sure you get these ASAP!!!!!!

I think it's fair to say that you don't need to be too detailed with the relationship evidence... Montreal doesn't care that much it seems! Remember that they already know you met within 2 years based off of your I-129F petition. I would just bring evidence that you have gathered that have occurred since you filed the I-129F.

Thank you so much for all of this, there were a few things in here that I missed.

I checked with our co-sponsor and he does not have his W2's for the last few years because he's retired and says that he does not need to file taxes anymore.

In this case, what should we do? He collects about $15K in disability and has $100K in assets that are listed on the form, and we have the documents to back up both of those. Will that be enough?

Thank you :)

Maybe others can chime in but... As far as I'm aware I know that the assets need to equal 5x the difference between income and the poverty minimum. Not sure if this includes the petitioner's income as well as well as the co-sponsor's income.. but you said you have evidence of the assets to back up their value so I think that's good for that.

I'm positive that you will need a statement from your cosponsor, signed + dated, stating why he did not need to file his taxes. A quick google search showed that one does not need to file taxes if their only income is social security, and it totals less than $25,000/year. Hopefully this helps, and others can give info if they know any more about it!

*Also, in my previous post, when I said I-184, I definitely meant I-864 lol.
