ACCO fasteners vs. Folders

The way I see it, if my application being neatly organized like the want it makes them take 3 or 4 less minutes trying to get my petition all ready to look at, multiplied by how many millions of petitions they see, well, you can do the math, it might have the chance of actually saving time on adjucations. I know I might be being silly, but if they ask for it (and my petition was a bit bulky, there was a lot of stuff with the AOS) then I'll do it :) It's always a personal choice in the end, just giving my two cents worth though.

Out of interest, why was your AOS application so bulky? What was in it that made up the large mass? I only ask because I filed I-130 and I-485 together with all evidence requested and I would describe the package as a "medium weight envelope", not a "bulky package".

Well, I guess it all depends on your frame of reference for package size really. I wouldn't say it was massive or anything, but certainly enough papers that needed heavy duty holding together, at least in my opinion :)

Filed: Other Timeline

My husbands I485, I765 and I131 packets were not 'thick'.

But the I864 was a monster. My income includes child support and I verified that by a years worth of bank statements (support was not court ordered) and my 20-some page divorce decree had to be in there too. I was relying on assets to make up an income shortfall, so verification of those assets were in the file. I sent along an appraisal of our home and verification of the loan balance. It was ridiculous.

Makes sense. For me the I-864 was just the form, the 2005 1040 and my 2005 W2, about 8 sheets of paper in all. I also printed things out double sided.

I guess my packet could be considered "small" compared to others. After all some people do silly things like photocopy every page out of their passport! ;)

Mine was pretty bulky, almost too big to cram into the priority post envelope.

We used ACCO fasteners as you stated. Thus if you had a bulk folder with tabs on them, it would make access to what documents are currently being looked for faster..

I would use the ACCO, thus this would cost you about 5 bucks more and your documents would look clean to the eye.

food for thought.
