The Bangkok Consulate has seen fit to issue a 221g for “evidence of relationship.” The exact request is. “Please provide proof of meeting on Thaicupid.com such as email notifications from Thaicupid.com that you messaged each other, printouts of profiles showing the date of when you registered, etc”.

We had told them in our letters of intent that we had met on Thai Cupid, and answered a RFE from the USCIS that they are not a marriage broker, now the consulate wants us to prove that this is how we initially met. What a ridiculous request!

Unfortunately we only used the dating site for a short time, just long enough to trade our contact information then we continued the relationship through email, Skype,Facebook and sms. All these logs were given as evidence.

I have written and called Thai Cupid; they understood the situation and said they would draft a letter for us. I only hope this is enough to satisfy the bureaucracy.

I suspect that the embassy thought something seemed out of the ordinary with your case. I think a large percentage of people say they met through the internet, and in my case that is how I met my wife and it wasn't questioned. We met on Thai love links...might be the same as Thai cupid I don't know. At any rate a website like that isn't a marriage broker, it is just a place to meet people. Maybe you just had a new consulate officer, not sure on that. But it also seems like USCIS also questioned something about your case. Do you have some "red flags" in your case? There is something about your case that is generating extra examination. Good luck.

Subject update:

We submitted the letter provided by Thai Cupid along with a (L) letter of from each of us about how we met and our commitment to each other. The visa was issued and is now in her possession.
