Hey All....

Cograts to all of you with the new green card! For the others, hang in there. This process is so exhausting and cost so much engergy!

Good luck to all of you with the interview soon.

My interview is in less than a week and I am freaking out! I have documents together but still feel like it's not enough (because I am stressing out so much about it).

Maybe you guys can calm me down a bit and tell me if it's enough proof so far?!

We just bought a car + registration, electronic bill, bills from different hotels we've been, money transfers, Tickets, FB conversation, Skype conversation, bill for his ring, letters from friends and family with both our names on it, a book with all the pic of us and a written proof that I am registert as his wife in the military system.

So far that's it. We want to move soon so it doesnt make sense that I am on the lease, moreover we would have to pay a lot of money. 1 week after the interview I will be on his health insurance (military one- they want to start witzh the insurance when a new month starts)

We dont have a joint bank account because we dont want to.

Now it's up to you and your opinion. Do you think that is enough proof? Any other proofs we can add?

Your opinion would help me a lot even though it's just to calm my nerves down!

Thank you in advance!

JAREmorocco,

My wife has also been waiting for her interview date. Her states has remain in the same status since October "Response To USCIS' Request For Evidence Was Received" but we did get her EAD beginning of Dec 2015. Since then, no actions/movements on her file yet. I did check the Field Office where she would get her Interview and it's showing that they are about 6+ months behind. They were working on March 2015 filers as of October 2015. Luckily for us, we have out 6 month twin boys to occupy our time while we get our turn with the interview. The trick to this game, is patience and for now that's what we're doing. Good luck with your process and hope you hear something back soon. But I do share your feeling that others have been lucky to have gotten their GC and/or interview. But we'll get ours - hopefully soon. Cheers!

Thank you so much! and congratulations on have the little twin boys , i am sure that will make you enjoy life and forget about the process a lot! i wish you the best of luck!

how do you know which office is processing your case?

You are not alone my case has been ready for interview since October 13. I have received my EAD though. My only problem is I cannot renew my drivers license here in Georgia without my GC. So I'm really hoping and praying I get an interview date soon. Hang in there your day will come soon :-)

I hope you hear something soon. prayers for both of us.

My husband and I just got back from our trip to Puerto Rico. No issues at all leaving or returning the USA. They only checked his passport for regular ID purposes. When we left Puerto Rico, we had to do a layover in Florida to come back home. They never asked him for his AP at any of the airports - I'm assuming because he didn't have to go through immigration/passport security.

I just wanted to write my experience for anyone who wants to travel or will be travelling on an airplane within the U.S.A. and U.S. territories. As you can see the AP is not needed for U.S. travel.

His GC status is still the same - no word since November 3rd.

Best wishes to everyone. (F)

Hey all.

We had our Interview this morning and I would like to share my experience.

Our appointment was scheduled for 9am, we have arrived there at 8.30 and were through the security at 8.45. It was a kind of chaotic because a lot of OI's were sick. Many ppl were sent home infront of us because they were not on time. An other couple didnt hear that the OI called their number and they were sent home too. Finally, at 10.20am it was our turn. We went into the room and we had to swear that we are telling the truth. Right after, he wanted to see if we had our ID's with us but left them on the table without looking at them. He started to talk about the military (my husband was also in the military) and about his family from Germany (I am also from Germany). I had the feeling that it was a great beginning for a conversation. We kept talking about his family, he showed us a picture of his car and explained that he was late this morning and a lot of other OI's are sick.

The first "real" question was just how we met and he continued with some jokes on his side. He just asked us kind of hidden questions like "oh nice, so when did you guys get married?" or told my husband "so when you apply for the 10y green card you need documents like that your wife is on your insurance". We answered that I am on his car insurance. Simple answers like this was what he wanted to hear.

Moreover, he asked us why I am not on the lease and we explained that I moved in later and that we want to move again soon and that it doesent make sense for a few months. He explained what kind of papers we will need in the future and we just told him that we already have these papers together. In the middle of our interview he just said "I've already typed in the computer that you guys got approved" like it was not important.

The most shocking thing for me was that he didnt want to see any kind of documents and did not even ask for more proof even though I just sent in a paper from the military and a temporary paper that said that I live at my husabnds place.

He was very friendly and honest with us. He told us that he was looking at our body language because down here in FL a lot of (his words) "beautiful girls from Germany, Russia and Poland come here just to marry a guy" especially there are red flags because my husband was in the military and that it often happens that these girls just use them because of their benefits from the military. But he continued and said that he saw we were holding hands and I was leaning on his side even though I was nervous. I think he watched our body language very closely.

At the end of the interview he took our ID's and checked them. He explained my husband (who hasnt changed his address yet to the new one) that he has to change his address on the DL because he has now 2 different places. It was not a big deal and I think he only wanted to see our reaction.

He asked my husband how often we are in contact with my parents and explained what we have to do when we want to visit them (because in my passport is still my maiden name). A few more private sentences from his side and that was it. We left and when I was in the car I already got the message that my card is being produced.

I didnt expect that our interview will be so relaxed and that he asked only 5 questions in total about our marriage. 80% was more like a private conversation with here and there a hidden question. He explained a lot and made us feel very comfortable. Our interview was maybe 20min long. But like I said he paid a lot of attention to our body language, how we looked at each other, talk to each other and act as a couple (holding hands, lean on his side, look at each other). We showed no papers beside my DL and EAD/AP, my passport and my husbands DL.

All in all my journey from to send in my papers until my interview was only 4 months and 26 days (149 days) with a RFE!!! I've heard every month from the USCIS (Aug-sent in papers, Sept-Fingerprints, Oct-approved EAD/AP, Nov-ready to be schedule for an interview, Dec-interview scheduled, Jan-interview).

We filled everything without a lawyer (we saw probably 90% of the couples at the interview who had lawyers with them).

I didnt expect it at all that our journey will be so smooth without any long waiting times or issues. :)

Thank you JAREmorocco!

Right now it's sitting in Chicago but I believe it would go to my local Field Office once they are ready to schedule an appointment. Not sure what's happening to it and when it will be transferred to the local field office.
