My wife received her Form I-797C, Notice of Action for her EAD today. I guess my question is, why is it only Valid for one year? We are hoping that her AOS isn't going to take a year or longer but if she goes to get her DL, would the DMV allow her to get a license despite of her EAD being valid for one year? Also, with her EAD, does she go back and remove the restriction from her SSN or is that something she'd have to wait until her GC is approved.

It doesn't matter the time. I live in Florida and I went to the DMV to get my driver permit. They told me I need to wait to have my SSN and SS card and that once I have it in hand I can apply together with the EAD. So don't worry they will accept the EAD no matter what but they need to see the actual SS card, not only the number but the actual card. If you are not sure you can always visit the DMV and ask. They are very helpful.

Good luck✌️

It is only valid for a year but if by the time that expires and you haven't had your gc you can extend. She can get a driver's license but the drivers license will only be valid for a year too, same expiration date with the ead.

I just downloaded the Uscis case tracker app on my phone, I sure wish I knew about it sooner! It definitely makes tracking my case as well as my 2 kid's cases much easier! I just wish there was some movement to actually track!

I was really hoping to have our AP documents in hand prior to the Christmas holidays. I'd really like to be able to head up to Canada to see our friends and family, and my kids visit with their father. Any other September filers out there that have filed with children?

8/10/2015 - Married

9/15/2015 - Mailed AOS packages

9/16/2015 - USPS Tracking confirms delivery

Hey guys

I woke up this morning and quess what happened?

My USCIS app told me that my case is ready to be scheduled for an interview!

My EAD/AP got approved 15 days ago (even though it was later than normally with "75 days" of processing time)

Looks like they work on my case although I had a RFE (we forgot to send in a written explanation why my husband doesn't have to pay tax (military+benefits) moreover, we forgot to send in his income from the last 12months).

Hope I get a date soon and than I have to get together our stuff and be prepared!!

But I am glad to hear from you all, that there is a process going on! Step by step...

My local office is also Chicago. What's your timeline?

Edited by hmz

09/03/15 - AOS mailed to Chicago

10/05/15 - RFE recvd

10/07/15 - Biometrics done, RFE sent
