While you are totally getting things please get this: I live about 2 hours south of the Kuwaiti border. I was in Bahrain (vacationing LOL) when there were soldiers, checkpoints, and piles of burning tires all around Manama and I was in Bahrain the weekend the protesters threw molotovs into moving cars and into the City Center mall.

I guess you have been here? No?

I totally get how you can read a few books, peruse a (select) few websites, and feel that you are qualified to ponderously declare yourself THE board expert on regional events however if you take a closer look you will see that the events that led up to the crisis being discussed in this thread have nothing to do with Iraq, America, Shia, or Sunni but started with an extended draught in Syria that displaced hundreds of thousands of Syrians.

NYT did a piece on it. Please read it. It was written by people who were actually there, not pompous, politically-driven academics.

Anyone can invent a fictional life history to make themselves appear to be more authoritative.

I haven't yet read that Saudi Arabia or any of the Gulf states has agreed to take even one refugee. If they have, please provide a citation.

Sure. So what is the solution -not take any refugees because so and so isn't doing it?

The underlying notion is that, the only people who matter are me, myself, and I.

Evidently.

The ironic thing is that the thread is about Britain letting in refugees fleeing a civil war. Somehow Lib feels aggrieved by that.

Britain should grant asylum to refugees. Then again so should Saudi Arabia. However policy shouldn't be dictated by what others are not doing.

This isn't an American problem, a british problem, a European problem or even a middle Eastern problem. It's a human problem.

Sure, but social apathy would prevent one from seeing it under that light. It's so Orwellian, it's laughable.

Calais is I believe in France, odd place to flee.

1940 excepted.

Saudi Arabia offers Germany 200 mosques — one for every 100 refugees who arrived last weekend

Saudi Arabia has reportedly responded to the growing number of people fleeing the Middle East for western Europe - by offering to build 200 mosques in Germany.

Syria's richer Gulf neighbours have been accused of not doing their fair share in the humanitarian crisis, with Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and the UAE also keeping their doors firmly shut to asylum-seekers.

According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, which quoted a report in the Lebanese newspaper Al Diyar, Saudi Arabia would build one mosque for every 100 refugees who entered Germany in extraordinary numbers last weekend.

It would be unfair to suggest that the Gulf Arab states have done nothing to help the estimated four million Syrians who have fled their country since the start of the conflict in 2011.

just this week, the Al-Hayat newspaper reported that 500,000 Syrians had found homes in Saudi Arabia since the civil war began - as workers, not refugees.

There have also been significant contributions from rich individuals towards the upkeep of refugee camps round the Syrian border, estimated by the BBC to total around $900 million (£600 million).

But amid a history of competition between the Gulf states and Iranian-allied nations, there is a deep fear that allowing an influx of Syrian refugees could also let in Syrians loyal to Bashar al-Assad.

There also exists a more general concern about demographic change, leaving the states opposed to the idea of welcoming refugees. In the UAE, foreign nationals already outnumber citizens by more than five to one.

Why build mosques. Why not build Public facilities and Infrastructure that are required for this invasion .

Anyone can invent a fictional life history to make themselves appear to be more authoritative.

Feb, 2012 Bahrain causeway passport stamps aren't fictional. Nice try though.

So you are saying: The drought in Syria is fiction? The Bahrain riots are fiction? OR: Both are Bush and America's fault?

I think you're out of steam here.

I guess the war in Syria is a myth then. Good to know.

I guess Geography was not your best subject.

You are saying all of that.

I am saying that the US led war in Iraq is not coincidental to the rise of ISIS. I'm not sure why that idea gives you conniptions.

You seem to take criticism of the Bush administration as some sort of personal insult. I don't know why anyone would do that...

I'm actually interested in your opinion about this - since you won't actually say what you think only make vague allusions.

In two posts you have suggested the following:

No country should accept refugees because Saudi Arabia isn't.

Refugees aren't actually refugees.

Certainly there are people who will try to get into Europe who aren't genuine refugees but to imply that everyone who migrates isn't amounts to Dehumanising them. Why is that important to you?
