Iraq wasn't a failure because the US went in under a false and dishonest premise.

It wasn't a failure because the previous government sent in too few troops to secure the country and saddled them with insufficient and defective equipment.

It wasn't a failure because they disbanded the Iraqi army and had to yo yo troop numbers to deal with an insurgency they had failed to predict and didn't understand.

It wasn't a failure when the my tried to install a puppet government into a power vacuum dominated by long held sectarian tensions.

It wasn't even a failure when those tensions destabilised neighbouring countries.

No, it was only a failure because the next administration listened to what the voting public were saying and decided to cut their losses.

But naturally it's all OK because all this would have happened anyway. The US pouring petrol on to the flames wasn't to blame in any way, shape or form.

Geography 101: Tunisia is not a neighboring country and it was the Tunisian revolution that spread to Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Jordan, Syria, Oman, Morocco, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia.

This has zero correlation to the Iraq war. It all started in 2010.

While you are totally getting things please get this: I live about 2 hours south of the Kuwaiti border. I was in Bahrain (vacationing LOL) when there were soldiers, checkpoints, and piles of burning tires all around Manama and I was in Bahrain the weekend the protesters threw molotovs into moving cars and into the City Center mall.

I totally get how you can read a few books, peruse a (select) few websites, and feel that you are qualified to ponderously declare yourself THE board expert on regional events however if you take a closer look you will see that the events that led up to the crisis being discussed in this thread have nothing to do with Iraq, America, Shia, or Sunni but started with an extended draught in Syria that displaced hundreds of thousands of Syrians.
