What papers are given to applicant after the interview?? I've read IO gives interview results paper. Do you get this paper right after the interview or in mail?

I got the paper with "congratulations" checked right aft the interview. I applied based on the 5 years rule.

Is it the letter which states that You are recommended for approval?

Yes, the N-652, Naturalization Interview Results form.

Checked:

You passed the tests of English and U.S. History and government.

A) Congrtulations! Your application has been recommended for approval.

The IO congratulated me, and said to me to pick up a passport application form before I left the building.

The IO was very professional, polite, zero accent. Very different from my AOS interview, when the IO had a very heavy accent, very hard for me to understand him, and was a little full of himself.

Wow, sounds like either you guys had a ton of people, or it was really the case that it was poorly organized. We had around 900 people, and we were with official appointment as 8:30 am. The ceremony started at 10 am and we were out the door by 12. So, ours wasn't bad at all. And they did the same thing as at yours by calling out each country from an applicant was from, and the applicant(s) stood up and waved. They even announced how many people from which country, for example "Iran, 22 people. Please stand up and show yourself". :) And at the same time they had a giant map of the globe, and each time they called out a country, they would put up their flag on the map. And at the very end when the map was full of "foreign" flags, they animated those flags "flying" to the US, and a big US flag appearing indicating that now all these foreign immigrants became US citizen. I think that was kind of cool. The exception was the singer who sang the anthem....that was quite disastrous. LOL But other than that, it was short and sweet. But we did have applicants who were called in the mic at the very beginning to stand up as those people left 4 am to drive all the way to the ceremony. Poor them...they must have gone to bed by 6 pm that day. :) They did not do any passport appointments at our ceremony, only the the social security update thing. The crowd and lines kindda reminded me of those older immigrants back in the 1800's who were getting of their boats to sniff into the new land....:)

Because half the room was Mexican. ;) I was at the same ceremony as you - congratulations on becoming a citizen! Thought the cermony itself was nicely done with a Texas spin on it, what with the Army brass quintet performing and all.

That being said, the whole thing was very poorly planned. It took almost 3 hours JUST to get everyone signed in, and then we had to wait for the judge who showed up at 2 pm. Which would be fine if they hadn't scheduled the start at ~11 am, and had a number of people from Austin coming down... which meant that nobody (neither the applicants, nor their families) could eat lunch until 3:30 at the earliest. Many friends and family actually left early because of this (a lot of people had to work, or had kids). My friends and family who attended at least stuck around for the whole thing, but were clearly very tired and hungry from sitting for hours in the auditorium watching people sign in, and not being able to eat lunch because nobody really knew what the actual schedule was.

And my brother, who had an evening class back in Austin ended up missing it because of how long things went, and the fact that we hit terrible traffic on the way back because of how late it ended. (Ever try driving from San Antonio to Austin in evening rush hour on a Friday? Don't.) From my standpoint, I was stuck in traffic to Austin (wouldn't have been an issue if we hadn't started so late), and missed my passport appointment which wasn't great, since I have some travel coming up, so I may now need to go to the Passport Agency in Houston instead.

Don't get me wrong, the actual ceremony itself (which was like 30-45 minutes) was excellent. I've been looking forward to this for a long time, and despite how long it took, I waited to see the judge and get a picture after the ceremony. It was just a little disappointing when poor planning and scheduling can put such a sour note on an otherwise important and joyous day.

Glad it's over thought. It's been a long road. Just needed to get that off my chest. :)

That sounds like a lovely ceremony!

I wish more of them were like that.

Carolct79, I don't think you quoted the latest timeline, because my husband's oath date is not on there... And now when msh quoted yours, it still wont be there. We need to be sure we are quoting from the latest list.

My husband is now a U.S. citizen! I went with him as a guest for his oath ceremony this morning. It was a really nice ceremony in the beautiful Paramount Theatre in Oakland, CA. His Visa Journey is now over, but this place has helped us so much, every step of the way. :)
