Since your interview is that early in the year I don't think you must file your taxes before interview. I think in the very worst case you'll get RFE at the interview and they will ask you to send tax papers for 2015 as soon as you can and will put desicion on hold. I've heard such things happened to applicants for spouse's and fiance(e)'s visa but not sure about citizenship. During my interview they didn't even look at tax transcripts and just asked me if I had been filing taxes before due date every year since I arrived US.

  • 02-14-2012: Interview PASSED! :D K-1 Visa Approved! :D

AOS/EAD Timeline (04.26.2012 - 12.13.2012)

  • 04-26-2012: I-485 and I-765 sent to Chicago Lockbox
  • 05-02-2012: NOA1 (both I-485 and I-765)
  • 05-23-2012: Biometrics taken
  • 07-02-2012: Employment Authorization Issued (07-09-2012 - received in the mail)
  • 12-03-2012: Made Service Request for I-485, because case is beyond processing time
  • 12-07-2012: I-485 APPROVED! 219 days since NOA1. No interview/RFE
  • 12-13-2012: GreenCard in the mailbox, done with AOS!

Sent: Date N-400 was mailed to USCIS

Cashd: Date your check was cashed by USCIS

NOA: Date you received the official I-797 notification in the mail about case acceptance

Fprints: Date assigned for fingerprinting

In Line: Date you received e-notification about your interview date

Int Ltr: Date you received the official letter in the mail regarding interview

Interview: Date of your interview

Oath: Date Oath taken

Field Office: Your local USCIS office where you will have the N-400 interview

indeed!!! Wasn't long at all, very nice ceremony and all done and dusted. Passport arriving in 3 days!

Hi everyone,

2 things I was looking forward to this year are happening (or potentially happening) on the same day

My wife is pregnant and her due date was late Feb, however she went into labor yesterday but hasn't delivered yet. No serious complications but its our first and the labor process tends to be longer. My naturalization ceremony is also today at 12 noon. I can't say for sure i will make it as I would rather be at my first born's birth than the naturalization ceremony

The letter I was sent says we can send the notice back with a written explanation and we can be rescheduled. However, it appears this was targeted at people who know in advance they can not make it.

What would you suggest would be the best approach to notifying USCIS? Call and then send a letter today?

If she delivers say by 9 am i can maybe go for the ceremony but if not I will probably skip it unless it's a huge hassle to reschedule

5/12/13 - NOA in the mail (dated 4/30/13)

First Congratulations for the baby and I wish your wife a very smooth delivery:) God bless your new children to you.

I know that you are in Boston Fenuil Hall and this is at 12:00pm Usually Oath ceremony will not delay over 12:15pm guaranteed. As soon as you make the Oath all of you. You could take the cert and leave immediately. You could be in and out in 30 minutes. I don't believe now you have much time in advance to postpone.

It would take you 2-3 months to get it rescheduled. I would advise you just talk to the officers as soon as you arrive that you will not attend the ceremony till the end.

As soon as you take the oath at no more than 12:15pm just ask for your cert and leave immediately

04/2012 - Concurrent I-130 petition / I-485 AOS / I-765 EAD / I-131 AP sent
35 days to biometrics, 73 days to EAD/AP combo card, 85 days to interview, 96 days to Conditional Green Card

04/2014 - Eligible for ROC

06/2014 - I-751 package filing joint with spouse sent

5 days to extension,37 days to biometrics, 172 days to CSC transfer, 247 days to Green Card

04/2015 - Eligible for Citizenship

09/2015 - N-400 package filing on basis of USC spouse sent

29 days to biometrics, 105 days to interview, 147 days to oath and US citizenship

~ 9 years and 6 months from first entry to US citizenship

In my own opinion to this question. The applicants ahead of you determines the time u will be schedule for oath. If you are from a small jurisdiction where application are treated quickly. I will say a week. Like my own case,interview was done January 5th, got an update for an oath scheduled January 12th and I called uscis tier 2 officer for my oath and was informed that it will be on the 26th January
