I keep calling nvc but it said always high volume.?

jayden1000,

Just a note and advice on best times to call NVC:
The number to call (from within the US) to check on your case is 603.334.0700
Their website states that they are open from 7am - 12am EST (not sure if this means noon or midnight :/ I should've asked)
When you call most likely you will immediately get an recorded message that states something like we are currently busy with the overwhelming amount of calls we are receiving, call back later... and then the call hangs up.
As soon as you hear that message, hang up and try again. I called Wednesday September 23rd in the morning at 7:51 AM EST and I got the message 10 times in a row. On the 10th time at 7:52 AM I finally got through the main menu. I was on hold for a good 10 minutes until someone finally came on the line and answered my questions. She was nice and helpful.
Today I called again... I tried the call 6 times before I was able to get through, then I pressed 1 for english and 7 for other questions and was on hold for about 20 minutes. I finally got on the line with Daisy and she was nice. My case was received (as someone else told me before) on the 22nd, and Daisy said to give them at least 42 days before they can give me the case # and invoice #... which is 12 more days than they said before. She reiterated that whenever I get a number assigned I will receive the information by mail or email (whatever they have on file).
Hope that helps.

Andrea,
As far as I can understand... if your mom gets approved at the interview then you pay the fee for the actual green card and I believe its $165. I think your mom will get a letter about it during the interview. I also think you can pay the fee before or after your mom actually gets here, but you should do it before.
I think also, if your mom is approved, they will ask for her passport (and keep it at the embassy), and then give her a temporary green card on her passport, which is what she will use to get here, then they send her the passport via mail in Venezuela... THEN, after she gets here she gets the actual green card by mail (to your address).
I think, but I'm not sure... can someone else confirm?
