Hello,

Sorry if this is not in the correct forum area, but I was hoping to get some opinions / advice on some questions about when entering the US.

I am travelling to the US in December for Christmas and new years, then back at the beginning of January. It will be a 3 week stay. My intent is to visit my Fiancé for the duration. I am from the UK and I'm a Male, British citizen.

In short, I'm having trouble deciding how to approach the questions I will be asked when passing through entry there. I have no intent on marriage, at all, during my visit.

After my visit I will be flying to Singapore for 1 year to attend studies. I have my acceptance letter / package for this. I will also by this point have payments made towards it (large ones at that!), have a student visa, flights booked to return from america and fly to singapore etc. I will also need to have a place of stay in Singapore too. I feel this is strong evidence of my intent to leave the country. I have a job currently but will be handing in my notice of leave before I travel to America, but technically I will still have it on my travel dates, as once I return from america I will be flying out about 2 weeks later again. I can take a most recent payslip with me to show said employment. I've yet to decide where I will be staying, if it will be at a rented apartment, or my fiance may have moved into an apartment that I can stay in.

Obviously I know the common rule of don't offer up information, but the way I see it playing in my head is that there's a high chance I may be asked if I'm "romantically involved" with anyone that I'm visiting, if I say I'm visiting friends again. Lying is not good in this case as I do not want to even remotely risk anything that could lead to a refusal of entry for x amount of time. I have been to America earlier this year in March, for 18 days, and did not over stay. I'm sure that will benefit me in some way too I do know a few people there now and I will be travelling to the same area. Is there anyway I can say I am visiting friends or just keep it at "visiting" to almost avoid any questions that may lead to it? And if I am asked about it, would it be best to just be honest.. I do not wish to say girlfriend and they later find out it's more than that.

Thanks for your input and time. I can elaborate on any questions you may have. :)

Nothing illegal with saying "visiting fiance".

Your words suggest sufficient proof to demonstrate leaving the US once visit is over. Carry proof.
