We are wanting to obtain the services of an attorney to work with us through the K3 process. Is it best to utilize an attorney based in the US or in the other country? In our case it would be the UK.

I'm thinking the US, since most of the process takes place here. But would there be any advantages to using one in the UK?

kaleigh,

I don't know about the UK personally, but the anecdotal evidence is that the consular officers there are quite easy to work with.

However there are many countries where the consulate can be difficult and it would be best to use an attorney who is familiar with the consulate and consular officers who work there. In such case perhaps two different attornies - one in the USA for the petition and AOS work, and another in the foreign country for the visa work.
