I am in England and my fiancée is in Texas and I'm looking for some help if possible as I'm finding it difficult to get answers from the U.S. Embassy London website and trying to speak to somebody over the phone that isn't automated has proved somewhat problematic. I have just booked a date for my medical for next week and I'm wondering if it's possible to do my readiness form yet or if I have to wait until after the medical? Just trying to speed up the process a little if possible or just some information if we can't. Thanks in advance

The form will ask the date of your medical so as long as you have an appointment, you can successfully submit the form whenever you have all the documents in hand to take to an interview, including the affidavit of support from your fiance.

Submitting today doesn't speed up anything because they still have to receive the medical results before you will even be put in line to be assigned an interview. Just guessing, I would expect interview date to be last half of October.

Yeah I figured that too or early November. Thanks for the reply. I must sound very impatient considering some of the wait times here, just ready to get this over and done with so we can start our lives together. Thanks again

I've been reading "impatient" for seven years, so you are not unique to me. It is never fast enough.

What is the DS-160 form? It asks on the readiness page for a planned date of marriage, how can we plan a date when we have no idea how long until the interview?

DS-160 Is the visa application.

Readiness tells them you have gathered all the civil documents and affidavit of support you need to take to the interview.

If you have a planned date when you wish to marry you can list it. if you say Feb 1, 2016 and the next guy says Nov 1, 2015, then he has a very good chance of getting scheduled in sooner because you have plenty of time before Feb.

Thanks for your reply. I'm trying to upload the photo to start the DS-160 but every photo I take is bigger than 240kb. Has anybody else found this whole process ridiculously frustrating?

I'm totally out of the loop (I did mine back when you never had to do this), but do you have any photo editing software to get the size down? I can easily do it if you so wish; feel free to PM me.

Edit: Can you not just use the photo tool (look on the right-side of the page)?

I'm terrible when it comes to computers, technology etc. I did manage to get the size down but it then told me that it didn't meet the quality requirements. I have no idea what or why they want this when you have to present yourself in person at the interview and bring a number of passport photographs with you

I'm really not sure what they want when it comes to the photo for the DS-160 form, I've figured out how to get the photos to the required 240kb or under but every single photo I upload does not meet the image quality requirements. I had them done in a proper photo booth, proper size and all that they ask and it won't accept it. What am I supposed to do? Because everything I try is not what they want. Thanks in advance

Skip the photo. Do the form. Take one passport photo to the interview.
