Good morning! I'm a Filipino citizen working in Saudi Arabia. We were approved last June 28,2015 but I actually received my passport last week of July. I already booked a plane ticket on September 29,2015 coz I need to finished my contract. However, this morning when I checked my passport it will be expired on March 18,2016. So when I enter US I will be lacking 9 days as per instructions that you need to have 6 months validity passport when you get inside US. Can they reconsider me coz there's no way I can renew passport coz I have only 28 days. Please help me with the same case like mine. What will I do now?

Your passport needed to be valid for at least six months at the time the visa was issued. It does not have to be valid for six months after you enter the US. I hope I understood your concern correctly.

Thanks for your answer. Its a good relief. So, I can still travel and no immigration in dubai and saudi will question me? I'm sorry but

You should contact your consulate with your concerns and perhaps see if there is a way to renew your passport while abroad.

From the instructions for your consulate and the travel.state.gov website >

A Passport must be valid for travel to the United States and must have at least eight months validity beyond the issuance date of the visa. Children may be included on a parent’s passport, but if over the age of 16, they must have their photographs attached to the passport.

A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the U.S. (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions).

You'll be fine. I left on my K1 on July 13 and my passport expires on Dec 25, 2015 and I had no issues whatsoever. If your country has a consulate/embassy in the US you should be able to renew your passport there.

Thanks it's a big relief. I have also stopover in dubai. I don't think it's a problem because I won't pass a passport control.am I right?

Does your K1 expire before your passport? My K1 expired before my passport did so I'm not sure if that's why I didn't have any issues. Since you're flying on a visa I doubt you would be having any issues as they would probably assume that the embassy wouldn't give you the visa unless they felt your passport had enough valid time left on it. I had a stopover to on my way and they checked all passengers passport 3 times on that flight (passport control, extra control at the gate and one more right before boarding) and no one said anything.

My point is, you'll be fine :)

My visa will expire on December 28,2015 which actually before my passport expires.

I'm actually many issues like I have stopover in dubai and since I have a Philippine passport maybe the dubai immigration will turned me down. But I won't enter dubai and only stopover so I won't enter passport control so maybe it won't be a problem.

Like I said since you're going to the US it shouldn't be a problem. But if you want you can always email your embassy to confirm with those. But I asked about my passport before my interview and they said it wouldn't be a problem and I didn't have an issue. And like you said: you're not entering Dubai you're just in transit.
