Called NVC today to get my Case#. It's been 11 days since NOA2.

The rep mentioned that it'll take 35 days from the NOA2 date.

It's 35 days? I thought it was a couple of weeks?

Normally K1 petitioners get their case number pretty quickly.

That's what I thought.

She told me to call back in 35 days post NOA2 date. <_<

Keep calling each day. Crazy what they will tell you.

Not sure if you are aware of the backlog NVC had, check here: http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/AILA/AILA%20NVC%20November%202014.pdf

So they are living in the past. They lie too much.

Which option am I supposed to choose?

I tried 3 times already, choosing option 7 (For all other concerns) but each time it would just automatically disconnect after I would hear a ringing tone.

I finally got fed up and hit option 2 (To see if NVC received the case) and this is where the operator told me to call back after 35 days.

Keep doing option 2, however we need to determine if USCIS has sent off your petition to NVC. Do you know this? It will take about 7 days from when USCIS sends it for NVC to receive it. It may be that NVC hasn't received your petition as yet.

I was just double-checking my Approval information. Online it says it was sent to Department of State for Visa Processing. In the actual I-797 letter I received, it says it was sent to NVC. Same place correct?

I just looked over my dates again and the Approval Date is Aug. 21. However, the actual date it was sent, was Aug. 26.

So looks like I jumped the gun a bit?

Good information. No, you didn't jump the gun. You are being proactive which is essential with this. Keep checking each day of this week (I think once a day would suffice). You will probably be getting the case number this week.

It can take up to 8 weeks for the NVC to receive your case. A lot of times it doesn't take that long, but sometimes it does. I waited 5 weeks for my case number.

Best advice is to just keep calling every day until you get your case number.

Based on the link I posted, the NVC was having some crazy delays in 2014. They have gotten better or should have gotten better by now.

How are you guys getting through the phone lines to talk to them? I have tried calling the number for K1 visa inquiries: (603) 334-0888 and I cannot seem to get through. Are you using a different number? I cannot even access a phone tree, it's just a busy signal. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks!

AC: I have heard from others and is true in my case, I think NVC gives the numbers on Thursdays/Fridays. Try calling this Friday. Mine took three weeks, but at that time, CSC was taking longer to send cases to NVC and TSC was faster.

Mo: Yes, it's really difficult to get through to NVC. If the system won't let you in the queue, try again. Best to try when they first open and between 5:30 PM and closing time. Remember they are on Pacific US time.

When I called in, I had to wait for an hour to get through to the second level person to get my NVC case number.

As everyone said, you want to keep calling everyday after two weeks of NOA2. During all my dealings with NVC, it takes about 10 business days from NOA2 to NVC case number. Some might get sooner and some might get later. The trick is to keep calling everyday to find out. You don't have to wait 35 days to call. Used to be able to use NVC phone number and your USCIS case number to see if NVC has your case. Didn't have to wait for a live person. They changed that system. You gotta hold for live person to ask if you have NVC number and Invoice Identification Number.

@Amhara: I don't think they are on Pacific time, I was trying to call the NVC and they are located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The number I have lists that location as well. Thank you for the time recommendations though. I will keep at it!
