They do not feel indebted at all but the usual question I get is why we stopped at two cities and didn't bomb Tokyo. Most think it's because we only had two bombs.

I tell them I don't know because I wasn't born yet.

I am sure they are joking with you. My US bf in NY never got the dry cleaner's jokes and got angry because I would by lying on the floor cracking up laughing at them.
