According to this, you need police records. Don't trust anything your lawyer tells you. Always do your own research to make sure about each detail. It's very common for lawyers to make errors in visa cases, sometimes very serious errors that cause a lot of delays in the visa process. You're proving yourself wise, by questioning what you were told.

Well @dwheels76 it won't be complete with my husband interview scheduled :);)

Awwww I hear ya. I didn't say it was complete but it sure looks alot more fuller. Hang in there.

That's good news for Jordan. But they are not the only country left. Ethiopia is also waiting. Almost five months since CC. :ranting:

What does NVC say when you ask them has your country started scheduling yet?

I see where you are confused by the disclaimer.

This should be interpreted as: if your documents are not written in English or If your documents are in the official language of the country which is not English.... you need certified translations AND the original documents.

If you guys have any questions specifically for me,

I will be glad to help via private message.

I am also applying for my husband who is in Mexico, and I sent the documents like the marriage and his birth certificate (which is in Spanish) just like how it is without a certified translation and I did not get a checklist. I hope that answers your concern ?

Hi DWheels, I received my interview email today, as well as my P4 letter as well.

Just to clarify, any document listed in the table at the bottom of the P4 letter with an F next to it doesn't need to be brought to the interview, is that right?

it does thank you, i have a lawyer helping me with this and she is stating that she is almost positive mexico is except from the police certificate, any one else heard anything like that?

are the translated copys sent to the NVC or taken to the interview, from what i understand from the site http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html , the translated certified copys are for the interview.

If your lawyer is telling you that you don't need a Police Certificate, you better get yourself a new lawyer, or go ahead and do the process yourself, I too had a lawyer at the beginning, but decided to do it myself with the help of VJ and doing an extent amount of research. I'm also petitioning for my husband in Mexico and I am doing this based on the help of other VJ members, the http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved.html website, and the wiki http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process which is an incredible tool in this journey.

As for the certified translated copies, they need to be sent to NVC along with copies of the original documents, like your birth certificate, and marriage certifcate, etc., any document that is not written in English.

Hope this is clear, if not, please ask questions, everyone here is very helpful.
