QUESTION: on hubby's P4 letter, at the end it shows documents required for interview with letters that represent that status.

It reports Petitioner's marraige certificate, birth certificate and marraige termination all with the status of F. F shows as "NVC did not request this document".

Does that mean I need to send my originals for hubby to take to the interview or it means they do not need those at all?

Yes originals are to be presented at interview.

I see the link failed. Just google, "sample interview appointment letter from NVC - ***removed*** " and scroll down to page 4. It says....F = this form is not necessary for this application

So does your list look like this one which is dated on that website 2009? The Mrs. Yadav posted there F says

"F shows as "NVC did not request this document". "
* Document Status Description
A = Applicant must acquire this document and present it at the time of the interview.
F = This form is not necessary for this application.
O = The original document has been received and accepted as meeting post
requirements.
P = The police certificate must be requested by the applicant. The issuing police
authority will send the police record directly to the appropriate US Embassy to have on
hand at the time of the interview.
T = An acceptable document has been received, but a translation is required as the
submitted document is not in English or the official language of the processing post. The
applicant must present a certified translation at the time of the interview.
U = The applicant has informed the NVC that the required document is unavailable.
X = The required document is unobtainable for this country per the Foreign Affairs
Manual.
Y = The required document has been received and accepted.
I = The required form is incomplete. Please ensure that a complete form is presented at
the interview.
S = Scanned document received. The original document must be presented at the time of the interview

My case status is still 'AT NVC' making me a bit nervous last time it happened interview got cancelled.

It doesn't go out the minute you are schedule. They need to finish their scheduling and they bundle the petitions. By end of this week coming up it will probably get shipped out.

I've heard that at the best, it's at least 3 days after they schedule, but it's common to not get the email for a week or more. I know someone who didn't get the email for a month!

I'm not willing to wait for the email, because I've heard of some people not being able to have their medical appointment in time for their interviews. I plan on calling NVC every other day, because I want my husband to get his medical appointment lined up as quickly as possible.

i got mine the next day :)

Hi everyone,

I have a question. As you know our 2nd anniversary passed on September 2nd. I noticed on the email the embassy sent my husband it still shows our preference category as CR-1. Should I email them about this now.. or should I just have my husband bring it up at the interview?

I am thinking to email them..but I am nervous it will delay things again.

TIA

There's no need to email them. Remind at the interview and also have marriage certificate i hand at POE and remind the CBP. Don't email them. The have enough going on. They will know or you remind them at interview.

Hi dwheels76, I am trying to understand Biometrics requirement. No where on P4 there is a requirement for that but there is requirement of Medical etc. Additionally all the VISA interview reviews state that Biometrics were done after they submitted originals to local officer and at that time they were asked to go to the Biometrics counter (This is all right before going to the final counter for interview) And please see below ustraveldocs.com for Immigration visa also does not state any requirement for Biometrics outside the embassy Copy and pasted below). The only place they mention of Biometrics is for Non-Immgrant visa. So where is this info about getting Biometrics before the interview coming from?

You must register after you get your P4 letter for your Biometrics appointment online. Please check your embassy for more information.

Log in to http://www.ustraveldocs.com/into schedule your biometric appointment for fingerprint and photo collection at the Offsite Facilitation Center (OFC)

Apply for a Immigrant Visa

On this page:

Overview

The visa appointment system is intended for eligible applicants who have received notification that they must schedule an appointment.

Note: K visa applicants, please click here.

How to Apply

Starting January 1, 2014, immigrant visa applicants must complete the following steps prior to attending consular interview appointments.

Step 1

Obtain your Police Clearance Certificate from the Regional Passport Office (The validity of the PCC is one year from the date of issue. Bring the new PCC if the one you have submitted has already expired.) Also note that if you have lived in any foreign country for more than a year after reaching the age of 16 years, you are also required to submit the PCC from that country.

Note: Without the Indian police clearance certificate, you will not be allowed entry into U.S. Embassy New Delhi or U.S. Consulate Mumbai on your interview date. If you do not have your police clearance certificate in time, you will need to reschedule your appointment for a later date.

Step 2

Complete your medical examination with an approved panel physician from the list available for Mumbai Immigrant applicants at: http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/immigrant_visas.html and for New Delhi Immigrant applicants at http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html.

Step 3

Follow the instructions below to complete the DS-260 form online at https://ceac.state.gov/ceac. If you provided a DS-260 to NVC already, go to step 4. To complete the DS-260 you will need to retrieve the Invoice ID Number and each traveling applicant’s Beneficiary ID Number from the “Notice to Applicant” page of your appointment letter.

If you do not have an appointment letter, your Invoice ID and Beneficiary ID Numbers can also be found on the Immigrant Visa Application Processing Fee Bill Invoice, you or your petitioner received prior to paying your IV fees through the National Visa Center. If your petitioner no longer has the Fee Bill Invoice, they should obtain the invoice ID number from NVC.

Be sure to read the guidelines for completing the DS 260 form carefully. All information must be correct and accurate. Once the form is submitted, you cannot make any changes. If you need assistance, please consult an immigration lawyer or translator. The call center cannot help you complete your DS-260 form.

Step 4

Print the DS-260 form confirmation page.

Step 5

You are almost ready to schedule your visa appointment! Make sure you have your Indian police clearance certificate before you log on to schedule your interview.

Next, go to www.ustraveldocs.com/in and follow the instruction to login. After login click on “Schedule Appointment” option on the left-hand side menu. This will start the process for scheduling your appointment and follow the instructions as per the below category to determine your appointment requirements:

Category 1: Visa Application Center(VAC) Appointment

  • The National Visa Center (NVC) or Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) scheduled your immigrant or diversity visa interview appointment for an upcoming date.

Category 2: Consulate / Embassy Appointment

  • It has been more than a year since you first came to the Embassy/Consulate for an immigrant visa interview.
  • You wish to make an application for Returning Resident status.
  • You have lost your green Card and wish to apply for a Boarding Foil (formally a transportation letter) to return to the United States.

Category 3: Visa Application Center AND Embassy/Consulate Appointments

  • You missed your consulate/ embassy appointment.
  • You were informed by the consulate / embassy that your case is now ready for an interview.
Step 6

Complete your profile and also select the pickup location where you would like to receive your passport.

Step 7

For your Visa Application Centre appointment, you will need to bring:

  • A passport valid for travel to the United States with validity dates at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions). If more than one person is included in your passport, each person desiring a visa must submit an application.
  • Your DS-260 confirmation page.
  • Your appointment confirmation page.
  • One photograph as per U.S. visa specifications if the applicant is under 14 years of age See the Photos and Fingerprints page for more details.
Step 8

Following your visit to the Visa Application Centre to have your photo and fingerprints taken, you will then visit the U.S. Embassy or Consulate on the date and time of your visa interview.

You will need to bring:

  • Your DS-260 confirmation page stamped at the Visa Application Centre
  • Your current and all old passports,
  • Your Police Clearance Certificate from the Regional Passport Office
  • Medical examination report
  • Supporting Documents as per your visa type

Note: Applicants without both the medical report AND police clearance certificate will not be allowed entry into U.S. Embassy New Delhi or U.S. Consulate Mumbai. If you do not have your Indian police clearance certificate in time, you need to reschedule your appointment for a later date. If there is a problem with your medical report, the Panel Physician will give you separate instructions.

Your info page from your portal and this is what everyone has reported every nth for some time. I know for a fact India has VFC Bio-metrics you must make appointment for I would suggest you follow that and sign up before ts too late.
