Just got off the phone with NVC, thought I'd share what I learned. Our CC is August 11th, we're still waiting for our interview date at Jerusalem Consulate.

I spoke with Penelope, she's SOOOO nice by the way, very helpful and understanding. She said that NVC is almost done scheduling October interviews, and that's for all embassies and consulates, not specific to Jerusalem. She said while there is still a small chance that we could be informed we have an interview in October, if we haven't heard by now, chances are slim. She also told me that they will start scheduling November interviews in the last week of September. Not sure if that is of help to any of you out there, or necessarily applicable to everyone's situation, but I thought I'd share.

I did explain to her my situation though (pregnant, and anxiously looking at the calendar wondering how long this process will take and when my husband and I can travel to the US, there being an obvious deadline in our case). She said that I should request an expedite and seemed positive that pregnancy qualifies as a medical reason. I also thought that expedites needed to be life or death situations, but she gave me some hope so we'll go for it.

Good luck to everyone waiting for their interview!

By the way it appears, they just started scheduling October interviews. Many people started getting their interview dates yesterday.

I'll go with your assertion too. Penelope doesn't sound credible to me. Pregnancy is not a reason for expedite. If she doesn't know then anything else she claims should be doubted. She's one of those paid contractors used to soothe our stress ☺️☺️☺️..

Another VJ member whose CC is August 10th and also waiting for an interview in Jerusalem called NVC today too. They told her that October interview scheduling is winding down, essentially what they told me.....yet I do see people getting informed of October interviews here, so it's a bit confusing.

I would hope that requesting an expedite now will not delay our case at all even if it's rejected because pregnancy doesn't meet the criteria. But wouldn't we keep our same place in the line of people waiting for an interview? So it couldn't hurt to email NVC?? What do you think?

Thanks for sharing what you were told. I'm disappointed they're about to finish up October.

Typically an email informing of an appointment isn't received until several days, or as much as a week (sometimes a little longer) after NVC has scheduled it. So for those who've not got an October appointment email yet, it's too soon to assume they aren't getting an interview.

I wish I knew what was going on in the Croatia embassy. My son was admitted to the hospital yesterday for emergency surgery. Now he is staying a few days and then will need at home care.

My other child is young and full of energy and it's nearly impossible to do this alone. I really need my husband.

Still by the time we filed for expedite and things moved along, this will be over and I'll be in pieces barely hanging on. So no point in trying.

Add to this my own medical issues and that I myself need surgery. I really hope this is over soon. I'm not sure how much more I can take doing this alone!

I am the petitioner, he still lives overseas

I just called NVC. The woman I spoke to said they're still scheduling October and she doesn't know WHY another rep told anyone they were about finished, because there's no indication at all that they're getting October wrapped up.

And of course I'm missing work through all of this. Hope my boss doesn't get too pissed. If I get fired, my state allows that kind of dumb reasoning, then I'll be on unemployment... Isn't that what the government doesn't want? A US citizen on unemployment and welfare because they lost their job because their husband was overseas???
