Hey everybody!

I've been reading about some folks requesting that their case be expedited in order to get an interview faster. My questions are - How do you request an expedited case, and do you need a medical reason to request the expedite?

My husband and I are both in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and since the interview is in Montreal, we are packing up everything and going to stay with his grandparents in Ontario. We're doing this because we simply can't afford to stay here and fly my husband out to get his medical and then the interview. I've only been a visitor in Canada, so he's the only one working. Initially, we had planned to go to Surrey, BC for his medical, but since that's 13 hours away, we decided to just move to Northern Ontario and get the medical done in Toronto.

We had wanted to stay until our interview was scheduled, but that simply isn't an option at this point. We're anticipating a late October interview (if everything goes well), and our landlord wouldn't allow us to stay in our apartment for a partial month. We are leaving Edmonton at the end of September.

The reason why I am asking about expedited cases is because we will be getting to Ontario at the very beginning of October (possibly the last day of September), and if we can get an interview even just a few days earlier than expected, it would take a lot of stress off of us. His grandparents are in their 80s, and even though they can't wait to see us, we know that it'll be stressful for them to have two more adults in their small place for a month or possibly longer. I'm expecting at this point that we'll hear about when our interview is at the end of September, but if we don't, it's going to make the terribly long drive to Ontario quite stressful (and all you VisaJourney folks know about stress!).

So basically, please let me know what I would need to do to request an expedite AND if there's even a point in doing so.

My wife and kids CC complete in July 7 and the U.S. Embassy in HCMC, Viet Nam, has accepted my expedition request on Sept. 2. On Sept. 3 they received the E-files from NVC.

I asked for the status and was informed that it takes 4 - 6 weeks for information updated and 3 - 4 months for my wife and kids' interview scheduled.

There is anyone with my situation? I want to know how long my wife & kids have the interview date? Anyone here in Ho Chi Minh Viet Nam? This feeling is killing me!

Please be praying for us all!

Expedites at your embassy sorry have not sen one so have no idea. Sorry.

For all those petitioners, who reside in USA and got married anytime within last year : my wife has a question.

Was the tax filed in USA this year for year-2014 under the status of Single, or Married or MFS(married filing separately) ?

I was able to file as single, because my husband doesn't live with me, and he's a non-US citizen living outside the USA

Just got a confirmation that my case was completed yesterday! :D

Does anyone know how long can one expect to have to wait for an interview? Do they usually schedule them at the end of each month?

Congratulations. Welcome to the group. Every embassy scheduling is different. some are being scheduled now. Yours isn't a busy embassy so you may get scheduled right away.

I was able to file as single, because my husband doesn't live with me, and he's a non-US citizen living outside the USA

Same with me and my wife. People should really stop freaking us out about this tax issue. It's a non-issue. If there's a way to do it before everything, explain it to others who haven't filed as single whiles their spouses are living outside. But please stop freaking us out. We are under enough stress as it stands already. It's ok to file single per the tax rules I've read when the spouse is a citizen of another country and not present in the U.S. PLEASE STOP ???????

So basically, please let me know what I would need to do to request an expedite AND if there's even a point in doing so.

http://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria

That website lists the reasons a person can request expedite.

#1 on the list is severe financial loss, but that's a catch 22, because if there's a severe $$ loss, the applicant most likely will be denied, because the sponsor must meet the financial guidelines.

#2 is an emergency situation. That means a real EMERGENCY and it must be proven. For example, if it's a sudden, serious medical situation in which the US spouse desperately needs his/her spouse at their side, their doctor would have to provide evidence of the medical situation, along with a letter written by the doctor, stating that his patient needs their spouse.

Sudanese citizens have been moved to their embassy since July =) and still, the embassy accommodates Yemeni citizens also.

Don’t forget that there is a limited number of visas per month and apparently we're missing out. You don't want an approved case waiting for an extra how many months till the visa is available.

I hope things go faster, actually I hope things just go.

You have patience of steel, hats off (121 days +).

Thanks the thing is we should wait and live our life or we could break our nervous system, even though my wife is pregnant and i need to be with her and she needs me very much.

About Yemeni citizens and Sudanese with my respect to all, the American embassy in Cairo should put the Egyptians as a priority.

Amd lastly i'm wondering if we should do anything we are just waiting.

I tried emailing the embassy but they gave me nothing more than what we r hearing from the nvc.

Should we create group here on vj or on what'sapp for Egyptians waiting interview scheduling?

Dear co-VJ member Chaneydic1333,

Our intention was never to freak anybody out, but only to get some clarification, simply because we were told at the same VJ site, that there may be a possibility that consulates may ask as to why was the tax filed as 'single' and not 'MFS' - thereby questioning the authenticity of the relationship.

It is not us, but simply the tax rules and laws, that are so confusing, it can make the most honest person seem dishonest in the eyes of NVC or IRS.

It seemed to us that it is better so be safe than sorry and just wanted everyone's opinion.

Wishing the best for everyone out here.
