Last week the person I spoke to at NVC said it made no sense for people to call, because NVC always sends a notice right away. I told her she's quite mistaken about that! People call because NVC is very tardy with their notices, and sometimes people don't get them at all.

She was quite mistaken about that! I don't think I ever will receive my CC letter or the response to my inquire emails. It seems like calling them is the most efficient way to know about our cases.

To the people who never received CC emails, ask NVC to physically mail you confirmation of your CC. The same happened to us and we pestered the operators about getting written confirmation. We expected to receive an email (after informing a rep that it had been almost a month since CC, she said "Oh, that's weird. I'll put in a resend request."), but they ended up mailing the standard CC letter, which was relieving. To this day, we still haven't gotten a CC email, but the letter arrived approximately 1 month after the CC (I think about a week and a half from the rep's "resend request").

I'll call NVC about this on Monday morning.

Since we never got the CC email, I think there's a good chance we won't get the interview appointment letter (when we finally do get an appointment), and I know we can't proceed without that one!

Our government email system sucks. They probably are still on Windows DOS system. Very slow very archaic. One month its CC's 7 days like clock work (for most that's true) but seems since the computer hacking this summer everything has gone south. The only pus is NVC is getting back to their faster processing.

You know the record is 11 days. Most from arrival to Case Compete is 21 to 30. Now hmmm you lucky to get a case# by then.

Then the P4 one month its immediately after scheduling now days and weeks. That's crazy when people need these letters to do their medicals. It's like they hold them up on purpose.

The cc email is tge one telling that all documents are received and we shall wait for the interview... right?? And the NVC still and always busy :(

Yeah, it goes something like......All documents needed to complete the National Visa Center processing of your case has been reviewed...and it tells you the next step is to wait for an interview. That part should be worded something like.....Your next step is the interview, which could happen within 30 days, but could take so long to schedule, you'll swear you've been left for dead.

For everyone that's been waiting as long as I have, remember to update your affidavit of support papers. I happened to be looking at mine and saw that the form expires march 31st, 2015. I'm updating all of them now so that my husband can take them to the interview with him.

There's a part on it I don't understand though, under Part 2: Information about the principal immigrant, mailing address, it says In Care of Name

Do I put my husbands name or my name? I'd put his name, right, because it's asking for his mailing address. I'm not quite sure. Help?

Also, medical is tomorrow, I've got his passport, a copy of his passport, 2 passport size pics of my husband, and the interview letter. Am I missing anything?

The interview letter is a form letter and is VERY outdated. The "IV application part 1 and part 2" means the whole DS260. You've already submitted this, but take a copy of what you submitted.

Sometimes in the US, an immigrant might be in a temporary housing situation - such as living with a brother or sister or parents - or, s/he might have a different surname than the person who usually gets mail at a particular address.

If this is the case, the "In Care Of" line is for the name of the person who usually gets mail at the address. If your spouse has a different surname from you, and if the Post Office is really picky about only delivering mail for a particular person at an address, then use the "In Care Of" line.

Here is an example:

SeYoung Kim (principal immigrant)

In Care Of: Tom Jones (USC)

123 Main Street

Anywhere, Stateside, 12345

If the principal immigrant is "Nancy Higginbotham" and the USC is "Tom Higginbotham", then just put "N/A" in the "In Care Of" line.
