I'm in Montreal right now staying at the Candlewood Suites on Rene Levesque. It's NOT fancy but it's clean and decently priced. It doesn't have breakfast but there's a little kitchen in the suite with a fridge, microwave and oven, which might be ideal for you if you're staying 10 days. We paid around 300 CAD for 2 nights - 10 mins walk west on Rene Levesque (and then turn a quick right on Rue St. Alexandre) to get to the consulate. It's also just 10 mins south to get to Old Montreal which has been my favourite part of the trip!

*Edit - oncefuturealien pointed out my atrocious French grammar... :P

When me and my fiance checked into our hotel we did a dry run (well, walk) to the consulate lol. That helped calm my nerves a bit but I still didn't sleep much the night before.

Stayed for five days at the Courtyard Marriott at the end of August 2015. It was nice. Across the street basically from the Consulate (as others attest to). A bit pricier than Days Inn but we took a holiday and the U.S. dollar made it 25% cheaper anyway!
