Questions on DS-230

I think I got the form number right My husband, being ever so impatient, wants to fill it out RIGHT NOW and has some questions regarding some of the questions.

On 22, it asks where he plans on working in the united states, should he put actual job titles or just areas where he wants to work (such as finance, or IT, or research). What have other people put on this one?

On 23, he wants to know if the list of schools attended should include ALL schools, from like elementary or secondary school on, or just university?

On 24, it asks for military experience, but it only allows enough room to put in one date. So should he put the date he began military service or the date it ended?

And I have one question myself. He's going to mail all of his documents to me so that when we need them I can quickly mail them off. But European paper is bigger than American paper, so that if we use the shortcuts, will it matter if we send in paper that is larger than the one they would have sent out? Or should I mail him American-sized paper? Or are the papers NVC mails out larger than American paper?

We really ought to have a sample DS-230 filled out as sort of a guide for people doing this

For the military experience, while there is only one line, it does request "Dates" so I would make sure to put in starting and ending date.

For the paper, I've heard of people using the European size without any problems, apparently it's not a huge difference... but he could trim the paper to size if you were really concerned.

Finally, I would NOT recommend preparing the DS230 now and sending it to you. It will most likely be months old by the time you need it, and while this may or may not cause problems, I personally would not do this.

Why doesn't he fill one out now for practice, to make sure he has all the information updated, and then he can do a final copy of it and send it to you once your petition actually arrives at the NVC. From the time your case arrives at the NVC it should be at the very least 3 or 4 weeks before you would need to submit the DS230.

Okay yea but when you fill it in via computer, it only lets you enter one date. So do we have to fill in by hand?

We had to fill in almost all the dates by hand... the form was acting very odd. It didn't cause us any problems

We had to fill in almost all the dates by hand... the form was acting very odd. It didn't cause us any problems

He said he'll send me some now so that I can look at them and then make sure he filled htem in right and then he'll send me some fresh ones later

I think these forms are burning a whole in his pocket. I should ask him if he wants to go ahead and fill out his naturalization paperwork now, or if he thinks he can wait a few years

lol, that's funny... but it's very sweet that he's so involved. A lot of the time only one of the spouses is really involved... my husband just does what I tell him to do He is excited though, and usually does it in a timely manner.
