How to Make arrangement for weading when still no visa in hand???

This can be an important question that the consular can make at the interview. But how can the Us Citisen Fince make the appointment when S/he doesn't know if the visa will be issue ?

We are stuck at this question ?

Any advice... Or sharing your experience

Thankyou

I'm not sure I follow your question. You don't make definitive plans for a wedding until the visa is issued. The consular officer wants to hear that you plan to marry within 90 days of arrival with the visa. So, if asked, the answer is "we plan to have a civil ceremony within 90 days of POE with my K-1"

K1 Visa Process AOS Process

Mar 18 2013: I-129F mailed to CSC Nov 15 2013: I-485 with EAD/AP filed at Chicago Lockbox

Sept 19 2013: Interview - Approved!! Jan 25 2014: EAD/AP Card Received

Oct 6 2013: POE - Chicago O'Hare June 2 2014: Permanent Resident Card Received!

Oct 27 2013: Wedding!

Just say you plan on getting married within 90 days of coming into the country.

It's absolutely possible to plan out a wedding, but most people don't do it because it requires either setting things up before having the visa and passport in hand or because it'll cause them to wait longer for their fiance to come into the US to get married.

You have 6 months from the date of your medical to enter the country, once you enter the country, you have 90 days to get married. Plenty of time to set up a wedding.

Generally, yes, they ask if you have any wedding plans, you say what your current plan is.

With that said, currently I've priced out and have multiple locations for venue and reception picked out, all still have the dates we're looking at open and all within our price range. We're looking at November 21st for our wedding day, his interview is Sept 22nd, while I have all of these places picked out, I am not going to reserve or put any money down UNTIL he has his passport in his hands. The day he recieves his passport, I'm going out and reserving EVERYTHING that day.
The only thing I'll do before he has his visa in hand, but AFTER the "yes you're approved" is shop for a wedding dress. I know 100% the dress will be worn, it'll just be a matter of when.

Now when the consulate asks my fiance, he'll most likely just say that our plans right now are to get married within 90 days once he enters the country and that we're looking at a small wedding with family and friends.

Thankyou so much for your replys. I am at the same idea as you have said. Why I asked was because, I have read people who make arrangement , which is not sure if they will be on time.

I thought maybe people do any appointment to the city hall office or smth like this just to have a prove in hands at the day of interview.

Thankyou again

Wish you the best

It's ok with this, but you can't state at the interview that you have done the arrangement for civil marriage. This is what in wonted to know. It does not have sence for me to me ask for plans of weading when I still don't know when I will get the visa. We are thinking to go to city hall to ask about this when we will know the date of interview.

Thank you for your answer

Consider it a lot like the question on the DS-160, the one asking if you have any travel plans. If you say yes, you have to say when they are, and if you say no, you have to provide a guesstimate as to when you'd enter the country.

You can tell them an idea, say you know to not set anything up until you have the visa, but you can tell them something simple like "We plan to get married at the court house within 90 days of entering the country". MOST cities you can get a court house wedding ASAP, within like 48 hours of asking for one.

They don't need exact definitive plans, like having a time and date paid for and scheduled for the marriage, they just need plans as in, an idea of what you plan to do, not necessarily what you're going to do as plan change, but an idea of what you have planned out.

Like previously stated don't do make any definite plans like booking a venue etc until you have your visa at hand. Just give them estimated answers for example "we're planning on having a civil ceremony with a larger ceremony for our family at a later date". Or "we just want something small with our friends and family". They don't expect you to give them a date of the wedding, just kind of an idea of what you're planning on doing for the big day.

Hi there, I am going through K1 visa process right now, currently on packet 3 stage. Similar to what the above posters say, I did not arrange any wedding reservations involve with money too. However, I have make enquiries about the venues, wedding favours, dress, photoshoots etc. I have also checked which courthouse we prefer to get wed and their available dates on the county courthouse website. I didnt purchase air ticket too, yes it is going to be more expensive if you purchase near to date, but I think it is safer to wait till the interview pass through and confirmation as you know most wedding reservations do not give you full refund. We never know what will happen! :)

Good luck to you! God Bless!
