Can I or can I NOT use my husband retirement account to supplement the current income, it's short around $500 so he have a retirement acct. in Edward Jones (stocks form) but it specifically says retirement acct. can Use this as an asset or no?

Please help!!!

Assets need to be something that is readily changed into cash. Also, to cover a cash shortfall you need to have assets at 3x the amount of your shortfall. Based on your description that it is a retirement account, I would say it could not be used to supplement his income.

But he have 108000 in that acct. and the shortfall would be $2500, we still can't include it?

I would still think it would be better to have a joint sponsor. Generally money in a retirement account can not be easily converted into cash. But perhaps other members who have used assets will chime in here.
