Haven't heard from the Embassy.

Hi, so my Fiancee, Linny, and myself got approval from the NVC and they supposedly sent out the petition to the New Delhi Embassy on August 12th. However, we haven't heard a peep from the Embassy. When I called NVC the operator told me I was supposed to receive an email when the Embassy received it, never did, and that they'd be mailing Linny with her packet to start working towards the interview.

Well it's now August 31st and we haven't received or heard anything from the Embassy. I've put in queries to support@ustraveldocs.com (which responded by forwarding my case to West Africa?) and support-india@ustraveldocs.com. with the second query I regave them her address, as well as her e-mail address.

So I have a couple questions now for anyone who can provided assistance:

What else can I do? How else can I help to speed the process along and actually get what we need from the Embassy? Or is it now just a waiting game to find out exactly what's happening now?

What exactly do we need from the Embassy to continue our Visa? I've read in several places here that you simply need a case number or some such in order to start the Visa process online. Is this true? Can I query them about the case number (I guess it's not the case number I got from the NVC and one assigned directly by the Embassy?) and use that with my fiancee to get the ball rolling?

I just hate to think we've lost over a week because things got lost in the mail and no one bothered to e-mail me. Any help would be appreciated as I'm quite frustrated as of late.

With your case number given to you by the NVC, head over to https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

Make sure you have immigrant visa selected and enter your case number. This is how you track it to see if the petition has left the embassy, if it is in transit to the embassy, and if it has arrived. What does it say for you?

If it says "Ready" then the embassy should have received it.

Good luck!

It does indeed say Ready, in fact it says it was updated as of the 18th. So should we perhaps call tomorrow and try and find out what's going on? Or should I wait for responses to the e-mail queries I sent earlier today? It sounds like we could've started this over a week ago, so I'm kinda pissed and impatient now.

Thank you for the help btw.

I'm not sure on how the embassy in New Delhi handles their paperwork and what they send out, but from my experience with Spain, the embassy responded to my emails fairly quickly. You may want to look for other members on the site dealing with the New Delhi embassy and ask them for more specific information.

Check out this link: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=India&cty=Delhi

The information might be dated in terms of what forms need to be sent in, but it should give you a rough idea of what goes on there.

The "last update" will keep changing, and that is a good thing (it means they're keeping the ball rolling)

Hopefully someone can chime in and help out more. For now, I would wait for a response from the embassy via email.

Good luck, it sounds like everything is going well!

Thanks for the help! I really appreciate the feedback and we'll wait and see what the e-mail responses are like. This is a pretty overwhelming process, and I'm actually already out in India for the interview (heard that for interracial couples it's sorta the only way for approval, my personal presence during the interview) so I feel a bit more lost than usual with everything.

Good that it says READY, my fiance's case was stuck IN TRANSIT for almost a month. Since it says READY, try mailing UStraveldocs India, calling might also help. But keep in mind the people at those call centers are ROBOTS they will just read whats on their screen and I guess they just copy paste the same email msg to everyone without even reading its contents. If that doesn't work and its almost a month, contact your local Congressman or Senator, but use that as a last option. Embassy's in India and US travel docs are notoriously slow.

Thanks Roh&Dee =), I'm just a little nervous since my Fiancee's address is so long and convoluted that the packet won't reach here and will get lost in the mail, but I'll cross my fingers than the problem is just them being slow rather than a real hiccup.

They will mail the beneficiary a package through EMS Speed post, very rarely the consulate will email the package. They emailed me package from their state.gov address but its rare and I think it was because of my senators inquiry

Trust me I know. They do screw up on the address part. My fiance received her mail and the Post man did say that the embassy screwed the address and my fiance only got the package since the postman knew her family and they did let him know they are waiting on a package.

But for us the Mail didnt really matter since we already had the email which is required for getting medical and all done.

Ask the beneficiary to let her local postman know she is waiting on a package from US embassy, that really helps.

Hi,

So I am going to be joining this process soon hopefully in the next week and I was wondering is that packet the same at this information provided online.

http://photos.state.gov/libraries/india/521916/IV%20pkt%20K/IV%20Pkt%204%20for%20K.pdf

or http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.htmlclick the K1 visa packet 4 in the left side corner.

I am hoping to skip dealing with how long it takes everything in India to get accomplished. We already completed our PCC because my fiance was visiting home and decided to just get it done while he was there, which was lucky because it took longer than we expected. We still have to get our Thailand PCC but just waiting on NOV2 approval before we can ship that out.

So from what I ready on this link (http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-iv-kvisa.asp), it says that once you get ds-160 confirmation number, your receipt for you visa fee, passport and your case number you should be able to schedule an interview?

does anyone know how long it takes to schedule an interview because we were going to do those steps around October and I was hoping to have his interview in November so he could arrive by Christmas, is this possible?

Also I am not able to travel to his interview, and also I been reading about how some clerks at the embassy have a certain pre-historic mindset, so I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to prepare for this. At the moment, I am thinking letters from me, my parents, and his parents stating very clearly that they support this marriage and can't wait for us to be back together.

Sorry for the many ?s, I was just so happy someone starting talking about New Delhi embassy relating into the K1 visa process.

Cheers,

Sara

We had the same experience at the New Delhi embassy. My husband did not ever receive anything that they mailed to him. They were usually really good, though, at responding back to email inquiries. They did end up sending us the packet we needed to start preparing for the interview via email, after we inquired. If they do not, I recommend contacting your Senator. He will be able to get in touch with them.

Thanks for the insight and suggestion! I've sent in an e-mail query, no response yet however, (it's coming up on two days), but I'm hopeful that by the end of today we'll here something. If not my Fiancee is going to call and see if she can get anything to happen that way. I might try e-mailing one more time after that, but then I guess we'll have no choice but to take it to my Senator and see what happens then. Thank you so much for the feedback though, it's a bit refreshing to know we're not the only ones dealing/had to deal with this frustration.

ValdFellgar,

I had the same issue when I petitioned in the New Delhi Embassy. They mailed the packet, but it didn't end up at my fiancée's address because there was an error. I emailed an inquiry and they responded fairly quickly with the packet (in email). I actually got the paperwork done and had my fiancée scan & submit the paperwork by email. Maybe you can go this route? I'm not sure if they'll allow this anymore, you'll have to check with the embassy. Just giving an option.

__Good Luck__

Thanks! Unfortunately my e-mail to the embassy seems to have gone unanswered. I e-mailed them back on Monday and didn't even get a NoReply response. I'd also e-mailed support in general, and while they initially responded asking which Embassy I was inquiring about, it's now been 3 days and no further follow up. we're going to try calling today, and perhaps e-mailing again if things don't start moving. It's getting really frustrating feeling like they're just ignoring us =/
