Looking to start the process of getting hubby a green card. (I'm American Citizen). Approx how long should the whole process take? A year? 6 months? How soon have people moved to the USA?

We currently live in Calgary, Alberta. Looking to move to Michigan. (My dad lives in Farmington Hills!!)

I would suggest looking at the timelines of Canadian folks doing the same VISA as you (presumably IR1/CR1 ? Your interview will be in Montreal regardless of your location in Canada for this type of Visa. Start by reading the Guides link on the top bar to help with the steps you'll be taking.

Your husband won't be moving to the US until he has the VISA in hand.

NOA - Notice of Action - a letter by mail from USCIS received at various steps in the process. 1 being the first 1, 2 the second and so on
