Timeline

My husband does not speak english, will this be a problem at the interview,(Ciudad Jauarez embassy in Mexico) we both speak spanish, and our emails, conversations are in spanish, do I have to translate all proof of relationship?, I have another question, does he have to bring a copy of the petition package sent to NVC? forms, documents, affidavit of support, etc? also copy of the I-130 form? or is not necessary?

My husband is from Mexico and he only speaks spanish, the inverview will be in spanish dont worry :) Take a look at this link it has very detailed information of the process and what you should have at the interview.

Thanks, I read it but it's confusing because it says to bring originals but all original documents were submitted.I asked Mm lawer to provide me with a copy of the package sent to NVC but he said it is not necessary, they have everything and that of anything is needed they will request it with the interview letter, but at NVC webpage it says to bring copies...I'm lost!

Answers:

  • Your husband not speaking English is unlikely to be an issue.
  • You do not have to translate relationship evidence.
  • You do not need a copy of the I-130 form.
  • You do not need a copy of the I-864 or supporting documentation, that's already bundled into the file.
  • You do need the original civil documents.
