Hi everyone! I hope I posted this in the correct forum.

A little background:

My father petitioned for me and my mom in 2006 when he was still a LPR. We got approved and went to the states in March 2007. After two months, we came back to the Philippines because I was still in school at the time. Before departing the US, we applied for a re-entry permit (travel document) valid for 2 years. However, circumstances have changed and we were not able to come back to the US within the validity of the re-entry permit. Our green card is set to expire in 2017. I understand that we abandoned our green card and have no status whatsoever.

Flash forward to 2014, my dad is already a naturalized USC. He filed a brand new fresh petition for me. After a year of going through the whole process again, I finally have my new immigrant visa + visa packet in hand. I will be travelling to the US on October.

Here are my questions:

1.) After reading so much posts here on VJ about abandonment of GC, I'm wondering because I did not fill out such a form during my interview but I did give the Filipino Officer my green card when she asked for it. Will this not cause me problems when I do my Port of Entry? Won't they ask for it?

2.) Will the officers at the POE ask me about why I abandoned my green card in the past? I finished my studies here in the PH and just graduated last March. That's what I also told the officers at the Embassy.

3.) If I have not formally abandoned my green card like filling out forms and submitting them to the Embassy, will I still be listed in the system as a permanent resident even if I haven't been back to the US in 8 years and now have a new immigrant visa?

4.) This time, I intend to keep my permanent residence and apply for naturalization after 5 years but I would also like to come home to the Philippines once a year for 1 month. Will that be a problem?

5.) If I enter on a new immigrant visa, will all information pertaining to my previous status and subsequent abandonment be deemed irrelevant because of I started over with the process?

6.) Last question! I made a mistake in my address. When I get to the US and inform the Immigration Officer, should I still file AR-11 online and call USCIS just to confirm that they have the right address for delivery of my green card and SSN?

I'm sorry for the long post. I'm worried and the anxiety is kicking in. Lots of questions in my head especially that I'm leaving soon and will be travelling alone.

Thank you in advance for your help! God bless everyone!
