Hello, I'm really in need of some support here. My wife and I have been scheduled for a dv visa interview tomorrow on Monday 31st but she can't make it as she has been admitted to the hospital. My question is, even though she is the principal applicant, can I still show up to ask for a reschedule with a doctor's report of some sort? Please help me as I'm really confused at the moment and utterly disheartened.

@Tbone.. oh ok man. I was really scared. I was even thinking of getting a police report on a stolen passport or sumfin. How do u think that would turn out too hypothetically speaking so that they can reschedule it for us?

Don't lie, that could get you denied forever.

Being in hospital is a very good reason for not attending. Simply bring a doctors note, ideally with an approx date when your wife will be able to attend interview.

Unfortunately the answers above, while well meaning, I think are unaware of how down to the wire DV2015 interviews are at this stage. It may not be easy to reschedule by end September and even if you can you will have lost your visa number, which is an August number, and there may be no visa number available for a rescheduled interview as all Sept numbers are already allocated and you would need to hope for someone else to be denied and free up a number. You need to call the embassy as soon as they open in the morning to try sort this out, good luck.

@Susie, as usual thank you for your very valuable input. I went there and was told to get the doctor's report which I was able to get like 2 days later but unfortunately they didn't let me enter on my return. I was given an email address IVDV to channel my inquiries through and attach a scanned document with the doctor's report and any associated fees involved.

When do you think they will reply..and will they reschedule for my wife and I?..Is all hope lost? I sent the email like 3 times just to be sure they see it. So devastated..

Time to reply, ability to reschedule etc is all embassy specific so I really can't say. I would advise that you get a phone number and actually talk to people and try get an immediate answer from that, who knows how long it will take someone to answer an email....
