Got one-year driver's license on EAD but now have GC - should I update license?

This is my first time posting so apologies if it's in the wrong board!

The past few months my husband and I have been going through the AOS process based on our marriage (although I had originally entered the country as a student.) Earlier this year, after I graduated college but when my case was still pending, I passed my driver's test. I got a temporary license but I wasn't able to get the full license until my EAD card came through. That happened about 2 weeks ago so I got my full license and it recently came in the mail. The license expires when my EAD card expires, so in a year.

But last week we had our AOS interview, and were approved! My GC has been ordered so I don't have it yet, but hopefully it'll come soon. So my question is, should I go to the DMV and have my driver's license updated to reflect my GC status, once it arrives? Or should I just wait a year and renew my license when it expires, at which time they'll see my GC and change of status? My DL doesn't have any special restrictions on it, besides the one year validity. Part of me wants to get it updated because now I'm a PR and I want everything to reflect that! But on the other hand, I don't want to go to the DMV again (and probably pay again) just to have the date changed, and instead just deal with it in a year. Any advice on what would be best to do? Thanks!

If you want to do it now and get it over with, you can. You can also wait. You do not have to renew it until it is time. You can then present your green card to show your LPR status and will receive a new license with the regular amount of time licenses are issued for in your state.

Thank you! In that case I'll probably wait, if I don't have to update it now!

They only give you gc with expiration as same as your green card.
