Here are the simple steps. You send your K1 visa application to USCIS where you receive the NOA1 and NOA2. Then your file goes over to NVC for review and a visa case number is assigned about 2 weeks. After approval your case is sent to the US Embassy in Nassau, Bahamas (your timeline says that is where you will be processing). Once it arrives there then you are now dealing with USENB. Ok, so here is my first rant... and there is a good possibility that im getting way ahead of myself but they are things I feel the need to get off my chest.

Number one: seeing all of you guys getting sent to Cali for processing gets my hopes up... i really really hope that that happens to me as well... if there is anyone who wasnt sent to Cali can you please post that so we can see?

Number Two: With regards to filing package 3 ive seen a few different things and would like to get clarification. The package from my consulate (Montreal) says you must send in an email with the signed checklist, passport and the D form receipt.... everywhere else i see people mailing the full package with copies of EVERYTHING. What should really be happening here? I've tried to find answers on the forums but I am either blind or there isnt anything specifically posted.

We are not using a lawyer either and it's just as stressful as everyone says. This site is amazing for de-stressing and I'm hoping that most people here are posting legitimate facts about their processes.... I am currently documenting every penny spent on this process and will be posting at a later date for anyone following to see exact costs. That was one thing that I havent seen much of is people showing the cost of their process. If you can record what you pay and for what u paid!

From what I've read so far, all applications are currently going to the California Service Center until further notice.

I think most people don't post about the exact cost because the cost of the applications are the same for everyone (as listed on the uscis website). Of course, other costs like postage, printing pictures, and other miscellaneous fees will never be the same for everyone. I think anyone who is doing their research should automatically expect these other costs in addition to the application fees themselves.

If anyone is interested in numbers there are 180 K1 visas with NOA1 date of August 31st only 1 of those got a NOA2 lucky person!

How do you know how many K1 visas for certain date, and how many approved?

Where do you find that info?

I used the USCIS case tracker app. I entered case numbers around my case number, the app lets you see 500 at a time. I add i129F visas, then see their date and status. It was very labor intensive but I figured once a good bit of August 31st get approval the September people can start getting ready

Hmmm, tried that earlier but only found 3 other cases with NOA1, but they are around Aug 28...

Mine is Sept 1, so one of the first once(hopefully)

People here with NOA1 of August 24th are still waiting for an update. I wonder if everything is processed on first come first serve. There maybe cases that need more processing times...multiple marriages..divorce documents, childrens etc might add complexity to a case but I really wonder how the cases are picked up and processed

I'm still waiting on my NOA2, but I am slowly starting to gather the documents I need for my affidavit of support (for when that time comes).

Questions:

Is the employment letter mandatory?

And, if I have more than one job, do I have to get a letter from each job?

Also, for the tax transcript, I noticed that on the website you could request either 'account transcript' or 'return transcript'. Which one do they prefer?

Finally, if I can show that I exceed the poverty line with my tax documents, do I still need to submit bank statements?

I'm a bit confused about the whole affidavit deal. Im on the wait for my NOA2, but im just trying to clarify what my fiance will be needing for the interview. I moved to the states just 3 months ago from Colombia, I am currently employed, but my last income tax return is from 2012 which is the year I moved to Colombia and then met my fiance. Would i send any information on my income at the moment since i won't have a current tax return? My father and my brother are both going to be our co-sponsors, which form is it that needs to be filled out? can both of them sponsor for my fiance?? Sorry this whole co-sponsor thing just confuses me. Thanks!

Submit your current IRS tax submission (including W2), 2014 is preferred but in your case it will be 2012. With that, submit your current income wage statements (commonly refereed to as pay-stubs) and Employment letter. If you show that you are gainfully employed and meet or exceed the poverty level then you have really no worries. If you feel it necessary (I would) to submit a co-sponsor then either your father or brother are the most likely help for you to get approved. I would use one and not both but take the one with the greatest income. It may not be asked for but if you have prepared it, it can and will help in the CO's determination.

From everything I've read, the more proof you can provide for financial support, the better.

The Employment letter would be from your current employer only to show what you are currently making, that you are gainfully employed and in good standing with your current employer.

I'm not to sure on the tax transcript question and actually am curious myself on that one now that you ask.

On another note, still have not received any notice on the NOA1 yet...sighs. Well hopefully we will hear something sometime next week.
