Hi!! Woke up today to a beautiful "approved"! what a relief! exactly one month after my NOA1! the wait was driving me bananas! .. Is the app going to give us updates on our cases from this point on?

The case tracker app on my phone, did not alert me. I only checked and found out we were approved. After 4 days I received an alert from the app.

It is good to check it everyday.

Oh I see.. Yes the app was sort of a blessing that it helps us track our case but has also a downside I can't help myself checking the app a lot of times in each single day

You're welcome By the way, that site is specific to Philippine consulate but would also help you somehow since it has a detailed description.. Every consulate might have different specific course of action though like sending some files before your scheduled interview (not quite sure) so you should also check forums specific to your country to get some points.

I know that this was mentioned already but I forgot: what's the purpose of constantly calling NVC after approval? What do we do with the case number?

Hello! Well, after NOA 2 is received, USCIS forwards your case to NVC. So you jump to a different website to check the status of your case/application, all the way through until your K1 visa is approved. This website is: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

When you call NVC, they will of course give you the standard spiel to wait for 8 weeks. But they say this is not essentially true, so people keep on calling. Some also say that they are more "responsive and accommodating" if the petitioner calls as opposed to the beneficiary.

So anyway, once you already have your case number (case numbers are specific, depending upon your country), go to the website above and enter it. Leave the drop down selection at "Immigrant Visa". At this point, 3 statuses are possible:

"AT NVC" -- your case is at NVC and they have not touched it yet.

"IN TRANSIT" -- your case is on its way to your country's US consulate.

"READY" -- your case is received by your country's US consulate and you are ready to move forward with the next steps.

Once your status is "READY", you have to wait for the instructions from your embassy on how to proceed. I think they call it "packet". It contains the instructions and also the approved 129F application submitted by your fiancé. At this point, the instructions vary per country.

In a country like mine (Philippines), where the mailing system is very unreliable, we do not have to wait for the packet, we can proceed with the next steps just using our case number. My advise is google the specific instructions for your country.

Good luck!!! The whole process, from beginning to end, is hard work.. But it's all worth it!!!

Basically I want to know when would it be productive for me to start bugging the NVC for my case number! I'm going to wait a few weeks before calling but I just wonder if there's any point in checking the app anymore.

That has been on my mind as well! I read only one post pertaining to answering this questions recently. It said CSC doesn't update, but TCS has been known to. I still check ?. My approval was 10/1 and has not reached the NVC yet as of yesterday. Looks as if 9/21 9/24's have finally reached the NVC.
